Colourpop Cosmetics: Haul & Review

Hello lovelies and welcome back to the blog. Lately, there has been a buzz going around about this makeup brand called Colourpop Cosmetics and of course being me, I had to get on the bandwagon. Two of my favorite Youtubers even collaborated with Colourpop and I've seen plenty of swatches and reviews from other Youtubers, so I wanted to try them out for myself.

I also really loved learning about Colourpop Cosmetics since it wasn't a known name brand to me like the high end NARS brand or the drugstore brand Maybelline is to me. You can learn more about them on their website but I'll give you my short hand version. Basically, this company was born and made in the United States. They don't test on animals, which is awesome, and they believe in luxury items for the price of dirt cheap makeup. Which I, as a massive makeup consumer who likes to pretend she has all this money for makeup, absolutely cherish and appreciate.

Well anyways during the holidays, Colourpop brought out a new collection of lippie stix's and Super Shock shadows that looked absolutely amazing and festive, that I at least had to pick some up. I ended up getting a holiday collection set for the eyeshadows but didn't pick up the set for the lippie stix's but I did get some permanent collection lippie stix's instead.

So if you want to check out what I got in my first ever (and probably not my last) Colourpop Cosmetics haul, then please click on Read More below!

Review & Swatches: Rimmel Showoff Matte Lip Velvet's

Hello everyone and welcome back to a review and swatches post! Today, I'll be talking about the new Rimmel Showoff Matte Lip Velvet's. These are fairly new at the drugstore and are the sister product to the Rimmel Showoff Lip Lacquers that came out when we first started our blog. Those lip lacquers may be our first blog post ever, so getting the new ones felt pretty sentimental...well to me it does.

Anyways, I heard about these new Rimmel Showoff's from a number of Youtube videos but I felt, knowing my area, that it would have probably been sold out already. So honestly I wasn't even going to buy them. But then, I went to Walgreens to get batteries for my brother's Christmas present (which is a coin counter lol) and literally saw all the new Rimmel Showoffs, completely in stock. Without even hesitating, I got three of the colors that I was most interested in out of the five shades they offered. The three colors that I got are Atomic Rose, Meteoric Matte, and Burning Lava. I am so super excited about these new lippies and so here are the claims.

Claims: Matte to the future! Show off lip color now with new velvety matte finish. Weightless liquid colour with a velvety smooth finish. Earth-shattering intense colour stays true for up to 8 hours. Moisturizing formula instantly increases lip moisture by 31%.

So those are all the claims, let's get on with the review!

Rimmel BB Cream Matte & Radiance Review

Hello everybody! I have a new product to review today it is the Rimmel BB Cream in Matte and Radiance. I saw these new BB Creams while I was gift shopping at Ulta and it looked like the Rimmel Stay Matte foundation, so I thought it would be an interesting thing to try.

Both BB Cream's have similar packaging except for the Radiance BB Cream having an orange lid and the Matte BB Cream having a purple lid. They both have similar claims as well.

Julep Maven Monthly Box: July

Hello Amaryllis Living readers! I'm back with my monthly Julep post for July. I know this is super later but I've just been so busy! I shouldn't be making excuses but better late than never right?

So for this month Julep's Maven box theme was the summer and the beach. There were great colorful polishes unlike last month which was just...not summery at all. This means I was much more happy when I saw this collection.

I chose the "Classic With A Twist" box which included two nail polishes and a body lotion. The two nail polishes are Vicki and Kelsey. Let's begin with them!

Flashback Foundations Friday: Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free StickFoundation

Hurray for another Flashback Foundations Friday! I hope you all are enjoying these posts as much as I am.

Today, I'll be talking about the Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick Foundation. I remember these being advertised a lot of the T.V. and because the concept of it seemed intriguing, I immediately bought it. I bought this foundation a long time ago when it first came out but never really got around to trying it out and talking about it here on the blog post. I've been sifting through all my makeup lately and discovered that I had maybe worn this foundation once or twice. I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to not only include this in our FFF's but to also wear it more often.

So, I wore this for an entire week straight and here is what Maybelline had to say about the product.

Claims: Our first gel stick foundation with an anti shine core. Fresh gel foundation blends to a natural matte finish. Lightweight powders in the anti shine core instantly dissolve excess oil. It's one step perfection. The first of its kind - lightweight gel stick foundation with an anti shine core: powder core instantly dissolves excess oil, for flawless shine free skin and tailor made natural matte coverage, and easy to apply and great on the go. (www.maybelline.com)

This has been out now for quite some time now but some may still be interested in buying it. I still do see these in the drugstores lately so it is still accessible to all. Please comment below and let me know if you enjoy our FFF's posts and let's get on with the review!

Primer Review: L'oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur & L'oreal Youthcode Pore Vanisher

Hello lovely people who read our blog! Today, I have a review on two types of primers from L'oreal. The L'oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur and the L'oreal Youthcode Pore Vanisher. I have been wanting to try out these two primers ever since they came out but they are just so expensive for the drugstore! I think they both retail for about $25-$25 (I'll have exact numbers later in the blog) and I think that it just crazy for drugstore. I would expect to find a primer like this at a more high end place like Sephora or the Macy's makeup counter.

Of course, I'm not bashing on L'oreal for making a drugstore product expensive but when you think of expensive don't you think of luxury? Like because these primers are expensive for the drugstore I automatically think they are going to be fabulous and life changing.

Now because I am a broke college student with no job (anyone hiring?) I couldn't afford the two primers for a really long time. They've been out for months now and the only reason I was able to buy it was because L'oreal was gracious enough, for the budget beauty like me, to sell these primers in sample sizes.

I go to Target at least once a week, whether it's to scour the makeup aisle or to just look around and maybe get a Starbucks drink. Trust me, I love Target so much. So when I was perusing down aisles and idling about it, I stumbled upon the L'oreal sample sizes. It wasn't a magnificent display or anything and the primers were just there, not even near the beauty section, as if this was something not to go crazy about.

Basically, I didn't care what my bank account was telling me. I immediately bought the two sample size primers and I wasn't going to regret it one bit when I got back home. The two sample primers retailed for about $5.99, which is MORE than half the original full size one. Now think about it, these are two pretty good sample sizes. You don't need a lot of primer, you'll probably need a pea size amount, and you'll still have weeks to maybe months of good wear and tear of this product. What I also like about this is that it'll help me determine even better whether or not I want to fork over $20 for a bottle of this primer. Just in case I didn't like it, I know I would have totally regretted the whole thing and be mad at myself for buying it in the first place. Oh, the price we pay being broke and loving makeup at the same time. My wallet is so sad right now :(

Anyways, moving on from my woes, I tried out each primer for a week and I really put it to the test. I love my primers and because of the price, I had super high expectations. Let's read what L'oreal has to say about these primers.

L'oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Claims: Miracle Blur instantly erases the look of lines, wrinkles, and pores. Skin instantly looks and feels smooth, leaving a velvet soft matte finish that lasts all day. (www.lorealparisusa.com)

L'oreal Youthcode Pore Vanisher Claims: Fresh, airy cream minimizes the look of pores with a soft focus finish. (www.lorealparisusa.com)

And that's all the claims with each primer, so let's get on with the review!

First Impressions: Disney's Ariel Treasure Within Beaty Book by E.L.F.

How super excited was I when I discovered this gem at the drugstore?! This, our wonderful readers, is the Disney's Ariel Palette Treasure Within Beauty Book by E.L.F. My sister and I actually found this at Walgreens during a random run to the drugstore. We both saw it and went OOOOOOO! I was hesitant to buy it at first because I wasn't too sure of the quality but my sister liked it so much that I decided to buy it. I mean why not, it was only $10! There were other beauty products that went with this collection like lashes, I believe a brush set and makeup bag, and some hair accessories. I wasn't too interested in those and I just got the palette.

First off I'd like to say is that the design of this palette is absolutely gorgeous. The novelty of this item gives me such a nostalgic feel and giiiirrrlll Ariel's hair looks fantastic! The packaging is made out of tough cardboard and the strap closures to keep the front closed.

Now when you open it up, this is what the inside of the palette looks like. It comes with a little mirror on the side with a cute saying "You've got your own style...". This palette comes with six eyeshadows, two bronzers, and a lipgloss. The beauty book also comes with two beauty tools, an eyeshadow brush and a bronzer brush. I love the little detail of the bookmark with the A for Ariel wax stamp. On the back of it is a small version of the right side of the palette. Although it's cute it is quite annoying because every time I close the book it's in the way and I end up creasing the bookmark.

If you open the left side of the beauty book where the little mirror is, you'll find two step by step instructions of two different makeup looks. On the corner it has the saying "...Now let it come through." which finishes the quote from the front cover. I love it when any palette has these because if I'm feeling lazy and don't want to conjure up an eye look by myself, I can just refer to the tutorials.

Now that my little overview is done, let's actually check out the eyeshadows, bronzers, and lipgloss!

Review: Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain

Hello there! Welcome to another lip product review (we hope you like these). This is going to be as short and as simple as I can possibly make it. These lip pies have been in the market for quite some time and these are the Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain. I heard amazing things about this lip product, especially from the youtubers eleventhgorgeous. I don't exactly remember what they said about it but that it was good. Me, being the lip girl that I am, was completely intrigued. Let's check out what claims Jordana has on these Twist & Shine's.

Claims: Moisturizing balm stain with a lightweight stain. Applies with a glossy finish then transforms into the perfect flush of color. Long lasting, retractable, and paraben free!

I have five different and beautiful shades to review for you today so click on the read more to...read more!

BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic Baked Eyeshadow Palette: Review & Swatches

Hello beautifuls, today I have the BHCosmetics Galaxy Chic Baked Eyeshadow Palette to review and talk about! If I haven't said this before then I'll say it now but I cannot leave the house without some eyeshadow or eyeliner on my eyes. So you'll probably see a lot of palette reviews on this blog :)

I got this palette as a Christmas gift from one of my closest friends. Besides, BHCosmetics was having an amazing sale at the time so she also profited from the site as well. I had been expressing my want for this palette ever since I saw JLovesMac1 use it in a video. I think it was in a tutorial that she was using this and I fell in love with how it looked like on camera.

So let's get on with the review and swatches! I'm too super excited to talk about this palette...

Claims: Look out of this world with our astronomical 18 baked eyeshadows. This Galaxy Chic Palette will take you from Plain Jane to an infinite trendsetter. Inspired by the moons and planets of the universe, eyeshadow shades range from hot sun-orange to cool-earth blue and colors of the Milky Way. Be as chic as a sparkling star!

Review: Stila In the Garden Eye Shadow Palette

Hey guys! Spring and Summer is the time where I become a little more "adventurous" with my makeup looks. I put adventurous in quotations because I don't go all-out with my eye looks. If I want to incorporate some color, I usually do so with one color, whether it be in the lower lash line, in the crease, or simply on the lid. I bought the Stila in the Garden palette a while ago because I thought it would be the easiest way to incorporate color into my looks.

This palette includes 10 eyeshadows, 1 matte and 9 shimmer. However you could argue that the bottom left shadow is matte, since the shimmer doesn't really appear. Most of the colors are neutral, everyday colors, but the 3 AMAZINGLY-GORGEOUS  jewel-toned colors on the right made me buy this palette. THEY ARE JUST AMAZING. Now onto the swatches!!!

Julep Maven Monthly Box: June

Hello everyone and welcome to the month of June! I have received my Julep Maven Monthly box and I'm kind of disappointed in the picks for the month. I'm seriously thinking about canceling my subscription and going to Ipsy? Anyone Ipsy subscribers? Please leave a comment down below and tell me if you are and your experiences with it.

The collection that Julep is highlighting for this month is The Three Wishes Collection. There are a wide range of colors, again based on your style quiz, and for Maven's if you don't like your bag you can switch to a different style. This month also features the Oxygen Technology Base Coat and Top Coat. It's supposed to give you stronger, healthier, and breathable nails.

I was originally Boho Glam but I didn't really like what the box had so I switched over to Classic with a Twist. In it, came three items, the Oxygen Smoothing Base Coat, and two nail polishes in Bergen and Ariana. I was more particular to this box because I've pining for a new base coat and I personally think the nail polish colors are something I would definitely wear.

Oh! And I got pixie sticks in my box. LMFAO did any other subscribers get pixie sticks? Stix...?

Well anyways, click on read more to check out my thoughts on each polish!

May Drugstore Makeup Finds Of The Month: Sally Hansen, Rimmel & Milani

Oh my! It's already the end of May and that means I have my drugstore makeup finds of the month for you! Honestly, I didn't try out too many things this month because there wasn't really anything I was interested in. But, I have two products that I do want to talk about because all in all I think that I only bought three beauty products for the month of May.

I know I skipped April because I tried really really hard NOT to buy anything for that month because...no money in the bank of Daisy. So for this month I am featuring the Big Shiny Top Coat by Sally HansenRimmel Scandaleyes Gel Eye Liner and the Milani Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain. These are fairly new products for me so let's get with my finds of the month!

Review: Essence Get BIG Lashes Volume Boost Waterproof Mascara

Hey guys! It has been a while since I (Jalisa) have written a blog post. You know how it is, with college and everything--it just becomes too overwhelming and there is literally no time for anything other than school. College right? Anyways, I am back for the summer and ready to get more reviews and such back on the blog! So today, I am going to review the Essence Get Big! Lashes mascara.

The Essence website provides a very "infomercial-like" description of this mascara:

sad romantic movies, tears of joy, sweaty athletic activities or a jump into cold water - the get BIG! lashes volume boost mascara waterproof is an ideal companion, no matter what the occasion! it offers perfect lashes without smudging and conjures-up mega volume de luxe - even when you go diving! an absolutely reliable styling partner!

Honestly, I bought the mascara a while ago and have thrown it out since. Don't worry, I have some things to say about this mascara, good and bad.

Review: L'oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara

Hello lovelies! Today, I have another product to review for you. We're going to be talking about the L'oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara. I first saw these in a kandeejohnson youtube video and then once more at my local CVS. I was actually excited to try these out because 1) cute packaging!!!!! 2) I never try out new mascara's and 3) it looked fabulous on Kandee Johnson.

The display was so cute at CVS. As you can see on the packaging it has a panda with big manga type eyes and fabulous lashes on it. SO CUTE!!!!!!! The mascara packaging itself is pink and black, very chic in my opinion, like I want to display this mascara out! Ugh, so cute. I don't have any mascaras that look like this. It's either the usual silver or black packaging. Here, I have the color Blackest Black.

Now I haven't seen this mascara being advertised yet and the only place I've seen it being sold has been at CVS. I do believe the Miss Manga Mascara is sold in Europe and possibly Asia but I'm not too sure. The only information that I was able to get about this mascara is through the L'oreal UK website.

Claims: Miss Manga features a 360 degree flexible brush for effortless application. Its unique brush has a flat surface to intensify and amplify upper lashes while its conical shape capture the lower lashes. (there's more but the site won't let me scroll down...www.loreal-paris.co.uk)

These claims sound great so let's get on with the review!

Julep Maven Monthly Box: First Box First Impressions & Swatches

Hello wonderful people that actually read our blog! It's been a long time since we last posted  but it is May now! A Drugstore Makeup Finds Of The Month will be due soon because I plan to be faithful to that segment of our blog.

Well anyways, this blog post will be about the Julep Maven Monthly Box and my first experience with any type of monthly box. Julep was having an amazing deal for new members where the first box is basically free! All you have to do is pay for shipping which is just a measly $3 considering the box itself each month is $25. You get three Julep products ranging from nail polish, makeup, nail care, skin care, maybe haircare (?), and anything else Julep does. Honestly, I thought the only thing Julep did was just nail polishes and I've seen those at Sephora before. They run for about $14 and I could never justify buying them. I do have Butter London polishes which are I think a dollar more but they were more hyped at the time I was really into nail polish.

I haven't heard much about Julep but I could not pass up this amazing deal and I've always wanted to try a monthly box like this. When you go on the site you're first asked to sign up and take a "Style Profile" quiz. The results of the quiz will determine your box of the month. I ended up getting Boho Glam and received two nail polishes and one nail care product. It also came with a buffer for your nails and cards and whatnot describing your box. Honestly, you can choose the style box you want but I went with what I got because it was my favorite one out of the bunch anyways.

Let's check out the products I got!

Review: Garnier 5 Second Blur Skin Renew Instant Smoother

Hello everybody and welcome to another review! Today I have the Garnier 5 Second Blur Skin Renew Instant Smoother. My goodness is this one a mouthful. This is relatively new at the drugstore and is a primer for your face.

The drugstore has been coming out with a lot of primers for this spring and this particular product peaked my interest.

Claims: Garnier's Skin Renew 5 Second Blur Instant Smoother is a new generation product. It's designed to instantly blur the visible signs of aging including: wrinkles, fine lines, flaws, and visible pores. In 5 seconds, skin feels smoother, looks younger, and is more radiant. (www.ulta.com)

These are amazing claims for this product and I was certainly intrigued by it. So let's get on with the review!

Review: Real Techniques Limited Edition Duo Fiber Collection

Hello everyone! For this blog post I have a really quick review of the Real Techniques Limited Edition Duo Fiber Collection. If you don't know, the Real Technique brushes were created by Samantha Chapman of pixiwoo. I don't really know if her other sister, Nic did design any other brushes but there are many different kinds. I'm pretty sure I have almost al of them and they are by far my most used and most loved brushes. These particular brushes come in three and are in the white packaging. They are duo fiber and are limited edition.

I actually still see these at Ulta or at least at my particular Ulta. I heard Walmart has started selling Real Techniques brushes so they might be there as well.

This particular brush set comes with three brushes, a face brush, a contour brush, and an eye brush. I've been using these brushes constantly since I purchased them and to start off I really like them. Like I said I have a lot of the Real Techniques brushes and I have to say I don't dislike any one of them. For the review I'll be talking about each individual brush and my opinion on it. Yay! Let's get on with the review.

Claims: Real Techniques Limited Edition duo fiber collection allows you to create soft layers and add texture. These duo fiber brushes are perfect for building color from light to dense. (www.ulta.com)

Flashback Foundations Friday: Maybelline Superstay 24 Hour Makeup Foundation

Hello fellow beauties and welcome to a Flashback Foundations Friday. As one can see, I have a slight addiction to foundations. I'm always on the hunt for new ones and always wanting to try them all out. Which, takes a toll on my foundation drawer and on my wallet. So this segment of the blog is all about foundations that are already at the store and are in my collection. Since a lot of the foundations at the store aren't necessarily new but are still available, I figured why not review those as well instead of just new ones! Since I've been using these foundations for some time my review of it will be more precise instead of first impressions type.

Anyways, I heard of this foundation, the Maybelline Super Stay Makeup Foundation, through youtuber cutesygirl09, who made a video featuring it. Her skin looked absolutely gorgeous and flawless that I wanted to get the foundation right away. It comes in 8 shades and I got this foundation over the summer so the color is darker than what I am in the winter. I've tried it a couple of times in the summer and in the winter (I actually made the color work!) to get a good consensus on what I think of this product.

Claims: Stays comfortable and looks naturally flawless all day. Micro-Flex formula provides 24-hour wear and no transfer. Withstands heat, sweat and humidity. Oil-free, dermatologist-tested, fragrance-free. Suitable for all skin types. (Information from Maybelline website).

These are amazing claims made by Maybelline. So, let's get on with the review!
