Review & Swatches: Rimmel Showoff Matte Lip Velvet's

Hello everyone and welcome back to a review and swatches post! Today, I'll be talking about the new Rimmel Showoff Matte Lip Velvet's. These are fairly new at the drugstore and are the sister product to the Rimmel Showoff Lip Lacquers that came out when we first started our blog. Those lip lacquers may be our first blog post ever, so getting the new ones felt pretty sentimental...well to me it does.

Anyways, I heard about these new Rimmel Showoff's from a number of Youtube videos but I felt, knowing my area, that it would have probably been sold out already. So honestly I wasn't even going to buy them. But then, I went to Walgreens to get batteries for my brother's Christmas present (which is a coin counter lol) and literally saw all the new Rimmel Showoffs, completely in stock. Without even hesitating, I got three of the colors that I was most interested in out of the five shades they offered. The three colors that I got are Atomic Rose, Meteoric Matte, and Burning Lava. I am so super excited about these new lippies and so here are the claims.

Claims: Matte to the future! Show off lip color now with new velvety matte finish. Weightless liquid colour with a velvety smooth finish. Earth-shattering intense colour stays true for up to 8 hours. Moisturizing formula instantly increases lip moisture by 31%.

So those are all the claims, let's get on with the review!

The first showoff that I want to talk about is Atomic Rose. It is a peachy coral pink nude that to me looks cool tone. This is actually my least favorite out of the three that I have and it seriously washes me out.

This next showoff is Meteoric Matte. It is a deep raspberry color and the darkest color in the collection. This is my favorite one out of the three I own and suits me really well. This is the perfect color for this time of year.

And the last showoff that I own is in the color Burning Lava. It is a true dark red color and looks very classic on the lips.

The packaging of these velvet Showoffs are similar to the original showoffs except that the exterior is matte. I really like that it looks like this and to me it looks sleeker as well.

What these remind me of are the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. They have the same kind of consistency and formula but I think these are much more moisturizing and easier to apply. The applicator is a pointed doe foot applicator and its pretty easy to use on my lips. I don't even have to apply on lip liner for help.

These come off super pigmented as well and is super soft on the lips. Once I let them set, they dried to a nice matte and velvet finish and my lips don't feel dry at all. It does transfer a little bit but it's not that serious.

As for the longevity of the velvet showoff, it actually stayed on pretty well. It stayed on my lips for a good full day without any touch ups. It did wear away at the corners of my mouth and I did avoid eating any oil foods with it. It would probably wear off with oily foods but for instance drinking water should be fine.

Grade:

A

Overall Thoughts:

If you liked the original Rimmel Showoff's then you'll definitely love the matte ones. Having matte lips are so in this year and this is just perfect. It's comfortable on my lips and is super pigmented. I just wish they had more colors! A wider range would be awesome but for now these will just do.
