May Drugstore Makeup Finds Of The Month: Sally Hansen, Rimmel & Milani

Oh my! It's already the end of May and that means I have my drugstore makeup finds of the month for you! Honestly, I didn't try out too many things this month because there wasn't really anything I was interested in. But, I have two products that I do want to talk about because all in all I think that I only bought three beauty products for the month of May.

I know I skipped April because I tried really really hard NOT to buy anything for that month because...no money in the bank of Daisy. So for this month I am featuring the Big Shiny Top Coat by Sally HansenRimmel Scandaleyes Gel Eye Liner and the Milani Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain. These are fairly new products for me so let's get with my finds of the month!

First up is the Rimmel Scandaleyes Gel Eye Liner. I bought this at Target only because Rimmel was having a huge sale on practically all of their items. So of course, being budget beauty friendly, I snagged what I believe was to be the most interesting thing and that was the gel liner. Oh, and the packaging was kind of cute. I mean who doesn't like to see a crown on their gel liner everyday? It makes me feel royal ;)

Rimmel claimed that this gel liner is waterproof (up to 24 hours or rich intense color), doesn't flake, smudge, smear or run, and applies on easily. I love the claims and have been using it ever since I bought it.

I got this liner in my favorite color, blackest black, and found the application to be very smooth and the liner itself to be very pigmented. I used the brush that it came along with and it was alright. It's nothing like my Real Techniques eyeliner brush but it was a nice addition for those who might not have a brush to use for their gel liner. Overall, I was very impressed with the application.

Now the wear of this gel liner is what really disappointed me. While it doesn't flake, smear, run, or smudge like it claims, this liner is definitely NOT waterproof on me. I was watching one of my show and I was crying pretty bad. But I thought my liner would be fine! It's waterproof!!! My god, was I wrong. I looked in the mirror and my eyes were ridiculously panda! Smudges everywhere, liner everywhere, just a mess everywhere. Ugh, I was so sad. But, I did like it dry. The gel liner was totally fine and it held well. It did fade throughout the day which I didn't like but what can I do, it's not waterproof. This is an okay gel liner, but it definitely is not one of my favorites.

Moving on, I also purchased a lip item this month. Here I have the Milani Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain in the color 05 Macaroon. I decided to pick up this particular shade because it was the only one I can see myself actually wearing on an everyday basis. The other colors were too bright for me and I'm not confident in pulling off bold and bright lip colors. I also saw how this looked on the youtuber melmphs and she looked gorgeous with it on and I figured...maybe I will be too?

This is what the lip product look like swatched. Macaroon is a cool tone hot pink, very Barbie like. This swatch took me about three times to get that opacity. Once the opacity is there, it is super pigmented. I like that this is a build able lip product because I can make it as sheer and as opaque as I want.

The lasting power of this power lip is quite impressive. Because it is a stain, I found that it lasted pretty much all day for me. It wasn't as vibrant as when I first applied it but the stain lasted through drinking, eating, and lip licking. I love lip products like these because I hate having to reapply lipstick throughout the day. So I've been really loving it! I'm probably not going to buy any more colors from this line but if they came out with more everyday type colors I'd check it out.

And lastly for this month is the Big Shiny Top Coat by Sally Hansen. When I said in the beginning that I needed a base coat, I also needed a top coat. I had been eyeing this top coat solely on packaging. I love really simplistic things and as you can see in the picture above, this is such a simply designed bottle. They also have a Big Matte Top Coat as well (which I want to buy!).

The first time I tried this top coat I fell in love. Sally Hansen doesn't disappoint when it comes to top coats, and I've tried a bunch from this brand. The top coat dries quickly and has a super shiny finish. I honestly really really love this. I've been really deprived of a top coat. I think I haven't bought one in over a year because I naively thought I didn't. It honestly helped my polish to not chip as fast and there are no weird air bubbles. This is a great top coat Sally Hansen! I'd definitely repurchase.

And that is it for my monthly drugstore finds! I know it isn't much but I'm trying to spend my money wisely! Any budget friendly beauty items that you guys have been trying out? I'd love to know.

  1. I wonder what is a good waterproof gel liner? I've had quite a lot in the past, but none of them seem to be 'waterproof' at all. Ohh, I could relate with the 'panda' eyes!

Btw, please check my blog too: http://newbeeslittleworld.blogspot.com/

    Thanks!
