Hello lovelies and welcome back to the blog. Lately, there has been a buzz going around about this makeup brand called Colourpop Cosmetics and of course being me, I had to get on the bandwagon. Two of my favorite Youtubers even collaborated with Colourpop and I've seen plenty of swatches and reviews from other Youtubers, so I wanted to try them out for myself.
I also really loved learning about Colourpop Cosmetics since it wasn't a known name brand to me like the high end NARS brand or the drugstore brand Maybelline is to me. You can learn more about them on their website but I'll give you my short hand version. Basically, this company was born and made in the United States. They don't test on animals, which is awesome, and they believe in luxury items for the price of dirt cheap makeup. Which I, as a massive makeup consumer who likes to pretend she has all this money for makeup, absolutely cherish and appreciate.
Well anyways during the holidays, Colourpop brought out a new collection of lippie stix's and Super Shock shadows that looked absolutely amazing and festive, that I at least had to pick some up. I ended up getting a holiday collection set for the eyeshadows but didn't pick up the set for the lippie stix's but I did get some permanent collection lippie stix's instead.
So if you want to check out what I got in my first ever (and probably not my last) Colourpop Cosmetics haul, then please click on Read More below!
I'd like to first talk about the eyeshadow set called Not A Box Of Chocolates. This comes six individual super shock eyeshadows and totals to $30, making each shadow $5 each. They came in this beautiful box as you can see below.
The six shades that I have from left to right top to bottom are Halo, Tinsel, Partridge, Sleigh, Drift, and Doe- A -Deer. Each super shock shadow have unique finishes and they are all super pigmented. I'll write about each shadow individually and what I think about them.
The first shadow is Halo. On the website, Colourpop describes it as a golden champagne dusted with soft gold glitter. It is a satin luxe finish.
It is definitely a light color on my skin tone and is the least shocking in pigmentation out of the bunch. The color is very soft and the glitter is super subtle. It's pretty as an inner corner highlight or as a light wash of color all over the lid.
This next color is Tinsel. It is described as a grayed out icy lavender and is a metallic finish. This is an absolutely gorgeous and true to color shadow.
The pigmentation is crazy on this one and with one swipe I was able to get that swatch above. I absolutely love the finish and the color is so pretty on my skin tone. This is a great stand alone shadow, like with this all over the lids is an awesome eye look in itself. Just pop on some mascara, girl you'll look fabulous.
Now this shadow is called Partridge which is a saddle brown undertone with a green duo chrome finish. This is a pearlized finish.
This beautiful shadow is called Sleigh and is described as an icy sage sprinkled with tons of multicolored glitter. Like Tinsel, this is also a metallic finish.
This is a gorgeous green color with beautiful tiny shimmer in it. You definitely need to layer this shadow to get full intensity but once you do, your lids will just glow. It's a great green to try out because it is very wearable.
Next up is the color Drift and is described by Colourpop as a true cranberry shade and is a pearlized finish.
This is the color that I was most intrigued in trying out when I bought this set. This is a beautiful cranberry color with a little shimmer in it and is perfect for the holidays. I know the holidays are over but I would definitely use this during the summer. It is super pigmented and easily layerable. This is another great standalone shadow.
And finally is Doe - A - Deer, a blackened violet and is the the only matte finish in this mini collection.
The is a great eyeshadow to use as a base for a smokey eye or to pop in the outter corner to deepen the look. This is the only matte in the collection and it is a great matte. It's super creamy and pigmented that you really can't go wrong with it. I like that this dark color isn't your typical black you would find in other collections. It has a nice purple undertone to it and is much more wearable than a plain black would be.
Overall Thoughts:
I think that these Colourpop shadows are absolutely fantastic. They have an amazingly soft and pigmented formula. But a warning to all, this is not your typical eyeshadow. The two ways that I would suggest in applying them is either with your fingers or with a synthetic brush. Even with a synthetic brush, I would much rather use my fingers just because it provides the best color pay off to my lids. Other than that, this is an absolutely amazing product and I will continue to buy shadows from Colourpop.
Moving on to the other side of Colourpop which is their lippie stix's and lippie pencil's. These lippie stix's come in a variety of shades and finishes and the unique thing about them is that they correspond with a lippie pencil. Like the supershock shadows, both the lippie stix and lippie pencil retail for only $5, which is amazing!
So for just $15, I got two lippie stix's and one lippie pencil by accident which is the Frida lippie pencil. I guess I accidentally put the Frida lippie pencil in my cart instead of the lippie stix but I'm not sure whether or not there's a difference between the two. Each lippie pencil that corresponds with its lippie stix is not necessarily the exact same color. Instead, they compliment each other. So if the Frida lippie pencil is different from its lippie stix, let me know because I'm actually not partial to the color.
But anyways, I got the colors Brink, Creature, and Frida. So let's start off with Brink!
This lippie stix is called Brink. Brink is a warm dusty taupe with a matte finish. The color was inspired by the ever so famous "Kylie Jenner Lip".
On the website, Brink looked like how it was described, a warm dusty taupe pink. But, when I received Brink it looked more coral to me. I thought it would be darker than what is shown in the swatch above but like I said, on my skin tone it looks like a coral pink with just a hint a taupe. It's just too bright for me and it looks a bit pastey. I would definitely mix this with a darker pink.
Although Brink is a matte finish and I love how well it glided on my lips. It's not drying to me at all and if you let it set on your lips, the color will last all day long.
Next up for the lippie stix's is Creature. Described as a depend blackened burgundy red with a matte finish, Creature is for the girl like me who feels extremely sexy and confident in a rich black red.
Again like Brink, Creature looked a lot darker on the website than what I got in my order. But with this one, if you layer the lippie on, it'll definitely look like the color on the website. I actually love Creature the way it looks on my lips. It's just the perfect vampy oxblood color (and that to me is super flattering on my skin tone) and it is also a matte finish.
It applied on just as smoothly as Brink and has the same lasting power as well. This definitely is a great fall color but knowing me I'll wear it in whatever season. This does feather so I would suggest buying the complimentary lippie pencil or you can get a lip pencil that's around the same color and you'll do just fine. OR be me and just be super careful and precise when applying this color on the lips.
And lastly, I (accidentally but don't mind that I did) have here the lippie pencil in Frida which was created by one of my favorite Youtubers CoffeeBreakWithDani (which is why I bought it ;) ). Frida is a warm mid tone nude pink and is "for the woman field by a substantial amount of coffee" or so that's what Dani says.
I used this lippie pencil all over my lips and just as an outline and I definitely do like it both ways. It is super creamy and pigmented. The only thing that I don't like is definitely the packaging. I would rather be a twist up pencil than having to sharpen but other than that I do like the lippie pencil's. When I used it as an actual lip pencil it did help a lot with any type of feathering.
Overall Thoughts:
I really do like the lip products Colourpop has but I definitely do have to try out other finishes. It's just that when I was buying these I really wasn't paying attention to the finishes but was more looking at all the different colors because they do have an array of options just as they do with the eyeshadows. They are all super pigmented so far and so creamy and just great to wear. The only thing I will say is that the pictures online are just not the same when swatched at home. I wish there was a better representation of colors but they are just such good quality and so cheap that I don't mind that it isn't true to color. These are easily layer able and you can definitely mix and match with other colors. I love the concept of the lippie stix and lippie pencil pair ups and again the quality is just amazing for the price.
And that is it for my first Colourpop experience! This is my first haul but it definitely won't be my last. Have any of you guys tried Colourpop Cosmetics? If you have leave me a comment on what you think of the makeup brand. I'd love to know your opinions! And if you liked this blog post I actually have another Colourpop order coming in (potentially two) on newer things that have appeared in their line. If you want to see my other Colourpop hauls leave me a comment as well. Please follow me here and anywhere else and of course I'll do the same. See you all in another post!
