Julep Maven Monthly Box: June

Hello everyone and welcome to the month of June! I have received my Julep Maven Monthly box and I'm kind of disappointed in the picks for the month. I'm seriously thinking about canceling my subscription and going to Ipsy? Anyone Ipsy subscribers? Please leave a comment down below and tell me if you are and your experiences with it.

The collection that Julep is highlighting for this month is The Three Wishes Collection. There are a wide range of colors, again based on your style quiz, and for Maven's if you don't like your bag you can switch to a different style. This month also features the Oxygen Technology Base Coat and Top Coat. It's supposed to give you stronger, healthier, and breathable nails.

I was originally Boho Glam but I didn't really like what the box had so I switched over to Classic with a Twist. In it, came three items, the Oxygen Smoothing Base Coat, and two nail polishes in Bergen and Ariana. I was more particular to this box because I've pining for a new base coat and I personally think the nail polish colors are something I would definitely wear.

Oh! And I got pixie sticks in my box. LMFAO did any other subscribers get pixie sticks? Stix...?

Well anyways, click on read more to check out my thoughts on each polish!

First up, I'll talk about Bergen. Bergen is described as a hazy blue grey shimmer. This is also part of the Oxygen line in which this polish is supposedly fast drying, long lasting, and makes your nails healthier and stronger. I actually really like the color of this polish. It's very simple and the shimmer is very subtle. It looks very classic on my nails.

Ariana is the next colored nail polish that I have. It is described as an enchanted berry iridescent chrome. It is also part of the Oxygen collection. This has much more noticeable shimmer/glitter than Bergen. I personally didn't really like this on my nails. While I do appreciate the richness of the purple and the glitter, I just felt like it washed my hands out. Like it looked weird against my skin tone. Because of this, I tried this on my toes and I liked it a lot better. I think this polish is more for a party/nighttime look. I can see myself wearing this in a formal setting rather than everyday like Bergen. The pigmentation is great for a glitter. I just need two coats and it is super opaque.

Both nail polishes are from the Oxygen formula collection. It claims to dry fast, give your nails 30% more oxygen, strengthen and harden your nails, and extends the life of your polish. The polishes both did dry really quickly. I don't know what it means to have more oxygen in your nails (it says on their website that it means it permeates the nail bed more?...someone explain that to me) but it wasn't as goopy as the other nail polishes last month. My nails do feel healthier but I think I can attribute that to the base coat which I'll talk about next.

And the last polish I have is the Oxygen Smoothing Base Coat. If you're wondering, is that a paw at the corner of the picture?!, then yes you are right. Lol, I was taking the picture and my dog was sleeping beside me on the floor. She stretched and her paw came into the picture just as I took the shot. I kept it because I think it's so cute! Don't you?

Well anyways, I am absolutely in love with this base coat! I've never really had a good base coat until this one. It dries to a matte white finish and it prevents my nails from staining, which is the number one thing I'm looking for since getting badly stained from a Julep nail polish. It makes my manicure stay put pretty long. I'm very satisfied with this base coat.

Overall Thoughts:
I wasn't a fan of the box selection for this month. As for the colors, they are ones that I wouldn't normally deviate towards in a store. I was pleasantly surprised with Bergen. I liked the color and look of it on my nails. As for Ariana, I don't love it nor do I hate it. I'm pretty sure I would like it better on my toes rather than on my hands. I do like the pigmentation of both polishes so that's always good Julep! As for the base coat, I am in love! I love it so much that I've made a significant dent in it. I've been using it every time I've been applying nail polish and I even got my mom to try it. She likes it as well.

As for sticking with Julep, I just don't know. I'm going to wait it out and see if I like anything this month but if not I'm going to cancel my subscription. For the Ipsy glam bag, I've already signed up but I'm on the waiting list. I think I'll enjoy Ipsy a lot more because it has more of a variety of other beauty items than Julep does.
