Hello Amaryllis Living readers! I'm back with my monthly Julep post for July. I know this is super later but I've just been so busy! I shouldn't be making excuses but better late than never right?
So for this month Julep's Maven box theme was the summer and the beach. There were great colorful polishes unlike last month which was just...not summery at all. This means I was much more happy when I saw this collection.
I chose the "Classic With A Twist" box which included two nail polishes and a body lotion. The two nail polishes are Vicki and Kelsey. Let's begin with them!
Up first is this gorgeous nail polish named Vicki. This is described as a pink flamingo creme finish. Vicki is also part of the new formula polishes called Oxygen Technology. The Oxygen Technology formula is supposed to dry super fast and allow 30% of oxygen to permeate the nail bed. It also extends the life of the polish.
Vicki looks very toned down in the picture compared to real life. It is a much brighter pink, almost neon. I don't normally wear these kind of pinks on my nails but I do wear it on my toes.
Next up is Kelsey. Kelsey is described as a powder peach creme. I like this polish so much better than the first. I think this is the perfect nude for my skin tone. It does apply on a little bit streaky but with two good coats, it is opaque.
The overall formulation of these polishes aren't so great. They are both gloopy and thick and like I said in previous Julep blog posts, these polishes aren't for someone who is a beginner. You'll definitely have to apply these polishes on a couple of times to understand how to use them.
Once you've got two good coats of the polish on, the color is opaque and beautiful. I love the finishes of both polishes. They also dry quickly as well which is great for an impatient girl like me. I would advise though not to move your hands around because these polishes will get bubbly.
Aside from having an extensive nail polish line, Julep does offer products in makeup, skincare, and body care. While I've never tried any of their makeup or skincare, I had the chance to try out their Bare Body Milk.
Claims: An ultra hydrating body lotion for thirsty skin. The lightweight, fast-absorbing formula leaves a soft, silky finish that’s not heavy or greasy, and our signature Beach Tonic fragrance lets you smell like summer all year long.
What It Does: Milk thistle locks in moisture and helps protect against environmental factors. Olive oil delivers essential fatty acids to hydrate and repair. Grapefruit oil promotes cell turnover. Orange peel oil brightens dry, dull skin.
I was actually super excited to receive this product in the box. I have super dry skin and I'm constantly looking for ways to fix it. This lotion claims a lot of amazing things and so I decided to give this product a try for a whole week.
The first thing that I notice is that this body milk is very watery. The packaging is a squeeze tube and I found that once I opened the cap, product already started seeping out. You get 6.8 fl oz, which is a good amount of lotion, but it's a little wasteful knowing that product comes out so easily from the tube. I'm a clumsy person and I know that if unintentionally squeeze the tube hard enough, lotion will come pouring out. So I have to be gentle to squeeze enough onto my hand.
I love the scent of this lotion. It smells like summer and beach and I have no idea what the scent is actually called but it's really really good. Since the lotion did come out watery, I thought that it wouldn't be as moisturizing as it claims. But I realized after rubbing it in that it does have a bit of thickness to it. It feels super light and refreshing. Not greasy at all. My skin does feel smoother but once again I have very dry skin so it's going to take more than a week to really see results. But so far, I'm loving it!
And that is it for my Julep Julep Maven Box. I'm so sorry for it being posted so late! It's like we're halfway through August but I've just been putting it off (aka I'm just being lazy). Anyways, this is my last Julep Maven box from Julep. I've decided that this monthly subscription is no longer worth the price for me. I'm not enjoying it as much and I've actually moved on to another beauty subscription service...Ipsy! So watch out for my first ever Ipsy glam bag! Thanks for reading these posts and please leave a comment below and let me know what you think of the items that I got for July.
