Julep Maven Monthly Box: July

Hello Amaryllis Living readers! I'm back with my monthly Julep post for July. I know this is super later but I've just been so busy! I shouldn't be making excuses but better late than never right?

So for this month Julep's Maven box theme was the summer and the beach. There were great colorful polishes unlike last month which was just...not summery at all. This means I was much more happy when I saw this collection.

I chose the "Classic With A Twist" box which included two nail polishes and a body lotion. The two nail polishes are Vicki and Kelsey. Let's begin with them!

Flashback Foundations Friday: Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free StickFoundation

Hurray for another Flashback Foundations Friday! I hope you all are enjoying these posts as much as I am.

Today, I'll be talking about the Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick Foundation. I remember these being advertised a lot of the T.V. and because the concept of it seemed intriguing, I immediately bought it. I bought this foundation a long time ago when it first came out but never really got around to trying it out and talking about it here on the blog post. I've been sifting through all my makeup lately and discovered that I had maybe worn this foundation once or twice. I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to not only include this in our FFF's but to also wear it more often.

So, I wore this for an entire week straight and here is what Maybelline had to say about the product.

Claims: Our first gel stick foundation with an anti shine core. Fresh gel foundation blends to a natural matte finish. Lightweight powders in the anti shine core instantly dissolve excess oil. It's one step perfection. The first of its kind - lightweight gel stick foundation with an anti shine core: powder core instantly dissolves excess oil, for flawless shine free skin and tailor made natural matte coverage, and easy to apply and great on the go.  This has been out now for quite some time now but some may still be interested in buying it. I still do see these in the drugstores lately so it is still accessible to all. Please comment below and let me know if you enjoy our FFF's posts and let's get on with the review!

Primer Review: L'oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur & L'oreal Youthcode Pore Vanisher

Hello lovely people who read our blog! Today, I have a review on two types of primers from L'oreal. The L'oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur and the L'oreal Youthcode Pore Vanisher. I have been wanting to try out these two primers ever since they came out but they are just so expensive for the drugstore! I think they both retail for about $25-$25 (I'll have exact numbers later in the blog) and I think that it just crazy for drugstore. I would expect to find a primer like this at a more high end place like Sephora or the Macy's makeup counter.

Of course, I'm not bashing on L'oreal for making a drugstore product expensive but when you think of expensive don't you think of luxury? Like because these primers are expensive for the drugstore I automatically think they are going to be fabulous and life changing.

Now because I am a broke college student with no job (anyone hiring?) I couldn't afford the two primers for a really long time. They've been out for months now and the only reason I was able to buy it was because L'oreal was gracious enough, for the budget beauty like me, to sell these primers in sample sizes.

I go to Target at least once a week, whether it's to scour the makeup aisle or to just look around and maybe get a Starbucks drink. Trust me, I love Target so much. So when I was perusing down aisles and idling about it, I stumbled upon the L'oreal sample sizes. It wasn't a magnificent display or anything and the primers were just there, not even near the beauty section, as if this was something not to go crazy about.

Basically, I didn't care what my bank account was telling me. I immediately bought the two sample size primers and I wasn't going to regret it one bit when I got back home. The two sample primers retailed for about $5.99, which is MORE than half the original full size one. Now think about it, these are two pretty good sample sizes. You don't need a lot of primer, you'll probably need a pea size amount, and you'll still have weeks to maybe months of good wear and tear of this product. What I also like about this is that it'll help me determine even better whether or not I want to fork over $20 for a bottle of this primer. Just in case I didn't like it, I know I would have totally regretted the whole thing and be mad at myself for buying it in the first place. Oh, the price we pay being broke and loving makeup at the same time. My wallet is so sad right now :(

Anyways, moving on from my woes, I tried out each primer for a week and I really put it to the test. I love my primers and because of the price, I had super high expectations. Let's read what L'oreal has to say about these primers.

L'oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Claims: Miracle Blur instantly erases the look of lines, wrinkles, and pores. Skin instantly looks and feels smooth, leaving a velvet soft matte finish that lasts all day. (www.lorealparisusa.com)

L'oreal Youthcode Pore Vanisher Claims: Fresh, airy cream minimizes the look of pores with a soft focus finish. (www.lorealparisusa.com)

And that's all the claims with each primer, so let's get on with the review!
