January Drugstore Makeup Find Of The Month: Maybelline

Hello everyone! This is a new 'segment' on our blog where I talk of some interesting beauty finds at the drugstore. This isn't necessarily a full on review but more like a first impression but less critical. Does that make sense?

Anyways, this month the drugstore has been coming out with a bunch of new makeup for the spring. So that's super exciting and means a lot more reviews here on the blog!

Here's what I found interesting at the drugstore:

Fashion Review: Sheinside

Welcome to Amaryllis Living's first ever fashion review! We've been doing beauty for a really long time and it's nice to change pace once in a while.

So every Christmas Jalisa, Danielle, and I give each other gifts with a condition, we tell each other what we want and that there is a $50 spending limit. I know right? How festive. But really it's better this way! I hate getting someone something and the lather doesn't like it or doesn't respond the way I was expecting them to. I mean I totally do the same thing and its just a waste of money. So, for about two or three years now this has been our system and everyone is always happy in the end.

For this year, I asked Jalisa to get me two items from Sheinside that I had been wanting for a while. I heard from this site from youtubers and from looking for specific pieces of clothing on google. I heard good things about the site and saw that they had clothes that weren't available at actual stores or at my favorite place in the world Forever 21. I had already accumulated a long wish list and made Jalisa choose two because each piece was about $20 or more even on sale. When it was finally ordered, I was super excited to receive it!

Let's get on the review and check out what I received.

Review: ItsJudyTime Palette

Who else was excited when Judy, of itsjudytime, announced that she was launching her own palette with BH Cosmetics?! BECAUSE I WAS SUPER EXCITED!!!!!! I had to wait a couple of weeks to get it because I needed some money (I'm a broke college student) so I got this palette after Christmas for a little gift for myself. When the palette finally came, I had never ran that fast to get a package before in my life. It actually came in a big box so it took me forever when I opened it but when I finally did, I swear I could hear the hallelujah chorus play around (cue the dramatics!). Yeah, so you can tell I was super excited.

I've had this palette now for several weeks now and I feel like I've used and abused the palette enough to know how I feel about it in general. So if you want to know my thoughts about the It'sJudyTime palette than continue to read on!

Review: Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil

SPOILER ALERT: This is an awesome product. In fact, I can easily that this is a HOLY GRAIL product. I am writing this review in the winter time, and let's just say my skin suffered some trauma. I go to school in Boston, and the temperature is a bit lower than the normal back home. It was about a month or so ago, and all of a sudden my face sprouted small bumps all over. My entire face was pretty much blotchy and it felt like I had completely different skin. I am usually combo-oily, so these bumps and small acne have never occurred before. So I thought, "I NEED A MIRACLE." And this is that miracle.

I tried different cleansers and such to combat what was happening on my face, and after much consideration, I've come to the conclusion that my skin is acting the way it is due to dryness. Luckily, I received a 500-point Boscia set from Sephora, which included a mini Tsubaki Beauty Oil. At this point, I was ready to try anything, and once i put this all over my face, I knew this would change my skincare routine FOREVER.

First Impressions: LORAC Unzipped Palette

Hello there :)
Today, I present you this glorious thing. The LORAC Unzipped Palette. I was at Ulta the other day and I was just wandering around, until I went to the LORAC section and saw this. Oh my gosh, the thoughts that ran through my head were those of any shopaholic/makeup obsessed person out there:

"It's so pretty."
"Should I buy it?"
"This is like an investment. It'll pay out in the end."

And there you have it. Now this palette is in my hands. I have been restricting myself from even touching it, because I wanted to do this first impressions. But, after swatching it and such, I know this was worth the purchase :)

Review: Josie Maran Argan Infinity Cream

Hey guys! It has been such a long time since I've made a blog post. I thought I would have time to post, however my first semester of college got the best of me. I mean I did decently well, but I've just neglected my blogging duties. So now here I am :)

Okay, enough small talk. I am here to talk about this amazing product, the Josie Maran Argan Infinity Cream. As you can see in the picture above, it is in a tube format, so you can squeeze as little or as much product you want. On the back of the tube, it says:

Infused with Josie's 100% Pure Argan Oil, this therapeutic, creamy blend of essential fatty acids and vitamin E can be used in an infinite number of ways. This targeted multitasker instantly soothes and smoothes rough, chapped, or dry skin, while illuminating the complexion leaving skin aglow.

Let me just say that this has been a life changing product for me. I have had the product for the last 6-ish months and I have at least a third of the product left. In the beginning, I didn't use the product sparingly, so I bet that this product will last at least a year. This cream has many uses, but I mainly use it to moisturize dry skin, especially my chapped lips. I think it is great to put it on at night, so your lips feel smooth in the morning. I also have dry-ish skin around my elbows, so putting the cream on it makes it feel so much more moisturized than just any lotion. This type of product is generally used to remedy dry skin, however I have also tried mixing the product with pigments. This can serve as a creamy eyeshadow type product, or even a lip product.

I don't even know what to say, because I think this can be such a great skincare product to use everyyday. Because of its versatility and "multitasker" purposes, I cannot really pinpoint how this will serve you best. It is just an overall great product.

Pros:
  • Multitasking purposes: Great for skin, and other makeup uses, such as a lipstick or cream eyeshadow

Cons:
  • It is a high end product, and there are probably cheaper alternatives

Overall Thoughts:
If you are looking for an extremely moisturizing product that has many different purposes, then I suggest that you buy this product. Yes, it is somewhat expensive, however the product will last a decently long time, and I assure you that your skin will thank you for adding it into your routine.

Grade: A+

This product retails for $28 at Sephora and the Josie Maran website:
