Happy Holidays! Christmas was great this year and I hope you all had a great holiday as well. Oh, and Happy New Year! It's 2015!!! It's crazy how fast this year has gone by and just like everyone else I hope, I'm excited for a new year to begin.
I recently went to New York City once again because I live so close by, and went to go see the Christmas Spectacular at the Radio City Music Hall, ice skate at Bryant Park, and eat dinner at The View restaurant at the Marriott Hotel in Times Square. It was a super busy day and the events kind of came together rather quickly because I wasn't too sure what I was doing but I had fun nonetheless. I took some pictures with my new camera that I got for Christmas (thanks bro!) and I'm still testing it out so bare with these pics lol!
Radio City is just as beautiful during the day as night. It was a bit cloudy this day so the lights still shone brightly. I got to Radio City pretty early since I got invited to a matinee performance of Christmas Spectacular, so I decided to just roam a couple of blocks and see what was around me.
My last memory of being around the Radio City area was when I saw Christmas Spectacular as a child. I couldn't really appreciate my surroundings until now. The first thing I came across was this gigantic display of Christmas ornaments. I mean look at it, it's gorgeous! Lots of people were trying to take pictures in front of it so I just stood off to the side and tried to wait until it was clear to take a pic but shoutouts to the couple over there. They looked cute lol.
I went up a block, to 49th Street and saw this colorful gem of gigantic Christmas Lights. How adorable! Look how cute the guard looks in his uniform. He was making sure that tourists taking pictures weren't getting out of hand and that everyone had a turn. I love how bright the lights look even during the day. It was really pretty.
So, altering chilling outside for half an hour, I finally met up with the people I was going to see Christmas Spectacular with and got into Radio City Music Hall. It is absolutely breathtaking when you walk into the entrance. I mean look at the chandelier! It was so gorgeous and super crowded. I'm glad I was able to get at least this shot of the inside.
We went into the theatre and Christmas Spectacular began promptly. It was a great show for the kids and family but rather short. I was expecting intermission but it was really only an hour and a half long. But it was adorable and if I had kids I knew they would have enjoying it!
Right after the show, I had to leave to meet my sister and Jalisa for our family friend's daughter's sixteenth birthday event at Bryant Park. I didn't know that I was going to go ice skating at Bryant Park until the night before but I was still super excited to go because I'd only ice skated at Central Park.
I made my way to Bryant Park really slowly because it was super crowded getting there and finally found the ice rink.
This picture was taken while the zamboni was cleaning up the rink, which is why there aren't people ice skating but when there were it was a lot of people. The tree was absolutely gorgeous, filled with red and blue ornaments, and when you stood next to it, it was huge! Now if you want a good experience ice skating and service I would suggest not going to Bryant Park. All the employees that you will meet are either super rude, unhelpful, or grumpy. I suggest going to Central Park for ice skating in NYC for the first time. Trust me, they're much nicer there. So, after horrible customer service, I was ready to skate!
Here's a snapchat photo of Jalisa, my sister Jess and her friend, before ice skating! They were super exhausted while I was super excited to finally ice skate.
Here's Jalisa and I ice skating from an Instagram picture. I haven't ice skated in years and it was super fun just to glide on the ice again. I loved it and I wasn't freezing at all! NYC at this time was like 50 degrees fahrenheit and I was sweating making rounds around the rink. It was ridiculous that it wasn't cold but it was just beautiful weather anyways.
When you leave Bryant Park, they have some cute decorations that you can take pictures with. Here's a snapchat photo of me being a reindeer!
After Bryant Park, to celebrate our friend's sixteenth birthday, we went to The View Restaurant & Lounge in the Marriott Hotel in Times Square. It was a revolving restaurant and buffet style. While the view was beautiful and the restaurant was a fun experience, the food was subpar to what I expected since the mother of the daughter paid a lot to have dinner here.
First off, you can't really make reservations and are forced to wait in line until it opens, first come first served style. The staff were really nice and helpful and they sat us near the window so we had a great view ("You pay for the view!"). The drinks are no free refills which was crazy because each drink was easily $6 to $8 even for water. The food was alright, they had pasta, meat, and salads for the main course. The highlight of the food was really the desert since it featured a chocolate fountain and an assortment of cakes, cookies, and any other sweets. They also had a great selection of cheese and crackers.
You can eat for as long as you want and really after eating, we all just took a bunch of pictures around the restaurant.
Here's my favorite Instagram pic of Jalisa and I in the restaurant. Honestly, I definitely got lost twice trying to find my way around since it was revolving but the experience was super fun.
This basically ended my day and night in New York City. We did walk around Times Square and Jalisa bought my belated Christmas present which was three MAC lipsticks, my first ones ever! A blog post of my new MAC lipsticks will probably be up soon since I'm so excited to have them. And, we went on home at around 9 P.M.
I honestly had such a fun day and it was great to be relaxed and off from work. I love the city during the holidays and if you ever have the chance to visit New York City, you should.
Love Always,
Daisy
