January 2015 Ipsy Bag: Fresh Start

Happy New Years and welcome to 2015! I hope everyone is ready to start afresh and new for the New Year and this month's Ipsy bag is all about the fresh start. I am absolutely in love with the bag for this month. I love the color scheme and the design of the bag. It's by far one of my favorites since joining Ipsy.

As per usual, the bag comes with five items that can range from makeup to skincare and to even hair care. I'm super excited to see what I got so let's get on with this bag!

The first item that I received in this bag is the J. Cat Beauty Fantabulous Gel Eye Liner.

Claims: Create the classic cat eye with the waterproof Jar Eye Liner! Tight line or significantly line your eyes with the intense yet smooth creamy texture that lasts all day long! This smudge proof liner is ideal for a beauty like you that's always on the go.

This gel liner comes in a typical gel liner packaging. The color that I received this in is in Blue Black. I already own a blue black colored gel liner but it has glitters in it. This, I found to have a matte finish once I swatched it on my hand. It looked super pigmented and the blue in it is actually pretty subtle and very natural looking.

When I first used it on my lids, I noticed that although it swatched well on my hand, it applied on patchy. I had to put on a second layer on top the gel liner so that it would appear more prominent on my lids. But it does go on smoothly just not as intense as it looks like in the pot. As for the wear of this gel liner it was okay. It held up well in the middle of my lid but at the corners and outer corners of my lids, it definitely faded away.

Overall, this gel liner isn't too bad. It's definitely not my favorite but what I do like about it is that the color is very wearable for everyday. The blue is subtlely mixed with the black but it pops out and I think that it could be used alone for a very unique blue black eye liner look.

The second item in this bag is the Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo.

Claims: Sheer Glo is an incandescent liquid that lights up skin with all over radiance. Mix with foundation or wear alone to provide a luminous glow for all skin types. An especially amazing product for mature or dry skin. Sheer Glo provides a youthful glow and dewy finish. Use on face and/or body and get glowing. Key Benefits: Universal shade, mix with foundation for a dewy glow, use as highlighter on cheeks, and mix with lotion for an all over body glow.

Now I've never really owned a product like this before except for a glittery body spray from Victoria's Secret, so I was a little hesitant on how to use it. I read the directions on the website and found out that you can use it with your foundation or just alone.

When I swatched this first on my hand it had a nice sheer pink glow with a good amount of shimmer, enough that it didn't look too overwhelming. I decided then to use it as highlight on my cheeks and it looked amazing. The consistency of this is smooth and applied on nicely on the face. I really like this alone as highlighter.

I haven't tried this mixed in with my foundation or lotion but I bet it would look really nice on the skin. Let me know if you tried this product mixed in foundation or lotion. I'd love to know your results.

The next item is the Nourish Organic Renewing Eye Cream.

Claims: Nourish Organic Renewing Eye Cream provides rich hydration to the delicate skin around the eyes. This powerful product will leave your eyes looking brighter, smoother, and younger looking. Key ingredients: Avocado oil (restores and protects skin, while helping retain clarity and brightness), Moroccan Argan Oil (packed with restorative omega fatty acids to intensely hydrate and replenish), and Shea Butter (deeply moisturizes and softens skin).

I practically screamed hallelujah when I saw that I received this product in my bag. I had been needing a new eye cream since losing my other one about a year ago. I know, I'm that lazy when it comes to skincare especially with eye cream since it seems so arbitrary.

This eye cream has a nice scent to it and it went on smoothly on my skin. You really don't need a lot of the cream to feel like your your under eye is moisturized which means this sample eye cream will last. But overall, I'm enjoying this and I do feel like my under eye skin feels smoother. I don't know about all the other claims yet but I will definitely be continuing to use this.

Next, is the Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow.

Claims: An incredibly innovative formula that pushes natural makeup and mineral color to new bounds. Rich, lasting, creaseless eye shadows are infused with coconut water for a velvety, cream-like finish.

I had never tried any of the Pacifica single eyeshadows before or well any of their other makeup items before, so when I received this I was finally trying out something from Pacifica. I haven't heard much about this makeup brand except for seeing it in the more "expensive makeup aisle" in Target.

This is what the eyeshadow looks like on the inside. The color I have is Ethereal. It's a nice creamy white color with a bit of shimmer. I thought this would look great used as a highlight in the inner corner of the eye or all over the lid for a cut crease look (which I'm really into lately).

Here's what the shadow looks like swatched. It went on creamy but not as super pigmented as I thought it might be. But, applying it on my lids were a different story. One swipe over the eye gives you a very natural look. It doesn't look too frosty or too 90's. With another layer of this eyeshadow, you'll definitely get a good prominent color. I really like how this eyeshadow looks on my skin and it held up really well throughout the day. It didn't crease on me or fade too much at the end of the day. I really like the formula.

And finally, the last item is the Real Techniques Fine Liner Brush.

Claims: The ultimate tool for precision application of liquid or cream eyeliner. The ultra-plush synthetic bristles are hand-cut and 100% cruelty free. Its extended aluminum handle is light and easy to use to make you look pixel-perfect even in the harshest of lights!

I already have this brush in my collection but it doesn't hurt to have double of something you already love! This is a great gel liner brush and it applies my liner on smoothly. The brush itself is really soft and the weight of the brush is perfect.

This brush is actually smaller than the regular fine liner brush but that's even better because I can bring this while traveling! I'm really happy that I got this in my tipsy bag.

And that is the end of what was in my January Ipsy bag! I hope you guys have been liking my Ipsy bag posts and leave a comment below if you've ever tried any of these products. I always love to hear from you guys! And so sorry that this is super late! I'm hoping the February Ipsy bag will be posted up here by at least mid March...lol.
