Hello everyone! Today, I am super super excited to talk about my first ever Ipsy Glam Bag! If you don't know what Ipsy is it is a beauty subscription box that has up to 5 items of deluxe beauty samples based off your beauty quiz that you take once you sign up for the box. This box is $10 a month with free shipping and depending on your state/country, you may get taxed.
I had been wanting to be subscribed to Ipsy Glam bag ever since I first heard about it which was a while ago. I love to watch Ipsy Glam Bag unboxings on Youtube and I was always jealous of the amazing samples they received. So this year I decided to bite the bullet and shell out the $10 a month for this beauty bag.
When you sign up you will be put on the waiting list unless you do a series of tasks that will take you off it. Basically, I recommended someone to get an account on Ipsy and I got enough Ipsy points to get off the waiting list and get my August Glam Bag. Once you're off, Ipsy will charge $10 to your bank account every first of the month. So on the first of August I was billed and then by August 11th my bag shipped.
Every month the Ipsy Glam Bag is based off of a theme. The theme for this month is "Beauty Schooled". I love the theme for this month because not only is it accurate but it's also cutely corny as well.
The Ipsy Glam Bag came in this cute white and orange polka dotted circular pencil case pouch. It reminds me so much of my middle school and high school days. I mean I still do have a pencil case in college but it isn't as cute as this...wait well I lied it is Totoro (which cost me $18 in Disney World!) but it's still just nostalgic.
The bag came with five beauty items and first impressions wise, I'm super happy with what I got in the bag because these are all things that I would have tried out on my own. For these posts, I'll talk about each item I received and give my own mini review on them.
So let's delve into this Glam Bag!
The first item that I want to talk about is the Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer.
Claims: A cult favorite, Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer is Dr. Brandt’s quick fix for flawless, photo-ready skin. It is the miracle base to create the perfect skin canvas for long-lasting makeup and well-preserved skin. This velvety formula absorbs excess oil, minimizes pores, blurs fine lines and is resistant to sweat and humidity. Prime, touch-up and treat while perfecting your makeup.

I absolutely love primers and I was super excited to be getting this new primer to try out this month. It comes in a nice sample size, .25 oz. I know this is something that will last maybe a month or so of continuos use and that isn't bad at all.
The product comes in a squeeze tube and it comes out in a light brown almost skin tone type color. I noticed immediately that the primer has a chemical/medicinal type smell to it. Once I rubbed the product I instantly felt my face smooth. The primer itself is super soft and easy to spread onto my face. It feels like it has a lot of silicone in it but I'm not too sure. I like silicone base products because I personally like the feel of it and the easiness of it.
After apply the primer on for the first time I felt that my face was smoother, any oil on my skin was gone, and my pores and fine lines were definitely minimized. Once I put makeup over the primer I was completely satisfied. The primer provided an even canvas for my makeup and I definitely saw that my foundation looked better with it. My first impressions of the primer was great.
I then wanted to see how the primer would wear throughout the day. In the claims, this primer promised me that it'll absorb excess oil, minimize pores, blur fine lines, and would be resistant to sweat and humidity. So throughout the day, I checked up on makeup for these exact claims.
The primer held up really well. I have combination skin and I go get oily around my t-zone at the end of the day. My face still felt smooth. I did see a little bit of oil around my nose but that was okay because there was no oil around my nose. My pores still looked minimized and any fine lines had I could barely see. This primer is honestly really great and I may look into buying a full size one!
Next up is the Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil in the color #1001 Black Silk. I've personally haven't heard anything about Lord & Berry but it sounds expensive (lol!). This eyeliner comes in such a cute tiny sample size at about 0.02 oz.
Now I don't normally use pencil eyeliner, I'm more of a gel and liquid liner kind of gal but I was willing to give this a try. Let's check out its claims.
Claims: Sensual and exotic, that's the effect that Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil delivers. Just like the traditional Kohl, but with the modern ease and control of a pencil. Giving a semi-matte finish that is also smudgeable, Silk Kajal Kohl's soft tip is ophthalmologically-tested and gentle enough to be used on the inner eye. Also available in Nudo and White.
The eye pencil doesn't promise that it's a long lasting or waterproof eye pencil but I did want to check for that. At the end of the day the liner did smudge on the top of my lid and on my eye bag area. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't attractive either. I definitely had to touch up my shadow to conceal the liner smudges.
All in all, I don't love or hate this eye pencil. I've definitely used better but leave a comment down below if you've used this on the lower lash line. I'd love to know your opinion on it!
Moving on, let's talk about the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara. I don't know whether or not this is a new mascara for Urban but I was ECSTATIC to see it in my bag this month. It actually didn't come inside the back but rather in the packaging. The mascara came inside a card type thing with a bunch of information about the mascara.
Claims: Bigger. Blacker. Badder. Urban Decay's ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumizing mascara features triple-black pigments and a deeply nourishing ingredient blend. Perversion Mascara gets you sexy in one stroke, yet it won’t quit until you say when.
I love me some new mascara! This sample size comes in 0.1 fl oz and is the perfect size for my makeup bag or for my traveling makeup bag. I'm pretty sure the color of this mascara is black...lol I just can't find if it has a specific name color. The brush is quiet large and thick. The bristles are short and thick in shape too.
And lastly is the You're The Balm Absolute Lip Balm by Absolute New York. I got this balm in the Grape flavor which is in the lavender packaging. It comes in a circular tin and is the type of lip balm that you have to use your finger to apply it on.

The first time I swatched this eye pencil I was immediately impressed with its pigmentation. It's super black and does dry semi matte. This won't dry instantly so I can take my time smudging my liner if I wanted to. The swatch is exactly the same on my eyes. What I don't like about this liner is that it doesn't apply on smoothly. I can definitely feel it tug a little bit on my lids and I do have to warm up the product on my hand before putting it in for better application. I'm not sure whether or not I want to use this for lining my lower lash line because I'm super sensitive there but if anyone got this in their Ipsy bag this month let me know if you've tried it there! I'm a little skeptic but I feel like it would look really good to smudge.

I'm pretty sure the color of this mascara is black...lol I just can't find if it has a specific name color. The brush is quiet large and thick. The bristles are short and thick in shape too.
The first time I used this mascara, I loved it. It gave my lashes length and volume and made my lashes very black. The wear of this throughout the day was pretty darn good. I didn't see any flaking or smudging. I usually get a lot of smudges of eyeliner and mascara at the end of the day but this I didn't see any.
So naturally I used the mascara every day since I loved it but then I realized after three uses, it started to get clumpy. I noticed that in between my lashes were little balls of the formula and it got worse and worse. I've since thrown out the mascara and I'm still puzzled as to why it did this. I kind of have this feeling that it's because it is a sample size, the formula might be weirdly different rather than if it was a full size mascara. I don't know...it sounds weird but let me know in the comments if you found that this happened to you.
I definitely won't be going out and buying this mascara in the full size until I've done some serious research.
The next item that I received was the Coastal Scents Forever Blush Sample Duo in the shades Fresh and Elegant. Fresh is on the left side of the duo and Elegant is on the right. This comes in 2.5 g or 0.09 oz. The blush duo came in a plastic packaging with a 25% off your entire purchase code on the Coastal Scents website to use by a certain date. Which, is great because I've always wanted to try out Coastal Scents products and what better way than to have 25% off to do it. Let's check out the claims.
Claims: Coastal Scents Forever Blush boasts 18 perfectly pigmented, powder blushes with a long-lasting rush of color. Complete with a mirror, these color-packed compacts go a long way.
The two blush colors are very reminiscent of summer. Fresh is this beautiful peachy matte color while Elegant is a bright blue tone pink with glitter. When I first saw this blush duo I instantly thought the colors might be too light for my skin tone. But I bit the bullet and incorporated the blushes into my looks.
I was amazingly surprised at Fresh. I thought this blush would be way too light for me but when I put it on it really complemented my tan skin tone well. As for Elegant, I don't go for it as much as Fresh but it is a pretty color on me as well. Be mindful that these blushes are super pigmented. You really don't need much to get a nice flush of color on the cheeks.
The only negative thing that I would have to say about these blushes are the sample size that they came in. A regular sized blush brush won't fit because the space of the pan is way too small. I'd accidentally pick up both color and get this weird mix on my cheeks. I ended up have to use a tiny contour blush that was able to fit and pick up the blush color individually. Super annoying but I worked through it! Other than that, these Coastal Scents blushes don't disappoint.
I definitely won't be going out and buying this mascara in the full size until I've done some serious research.

And lastly is the You're The Balm Absolute Lip Balm by Absolute New York. I got this balm in the Grape flavor which is in the lavender packaging. It comes in a circular tin and is the type of lip balm that you have to use your finger to apply it on.
Upon first notice I saw that the balm has blue, green, purple, and red glitter inside it. And because the flavor is Grape, it definitely also has a strong grape smell. It reminds me so much of the grocery brand grape soda that your parents would get at parties just in case that one person actually liked grape soda. I mean...it was alright, I just liked the smell way better than the taste. Haha anyways, here are the claims.
Claims: Treat your lips with this ultra-moisturizing lip balm from Absolute New York. This lightly tinted, creamy, conditioning formula softens, smooths, and protects lips for a seriously kissable pout. Discover this must-have balm for sensationally soft and luscious lips!
And here's what the balm looks like inside. I have to say the texture of this lip balm is quite amazing. It is smooth on my lips and glides on really well. My lips felt instantly moisturized. The downside is the glitter. While it may look like too much in the pan, it actually isn't that bad. I was expecting glitter all over my lips but I only got a few. These glitters are chunky and while they don't distribute all over my lips, it can be noticeable. I would suggest using this balm either under a lipstick or over a lipstick. I wouldn't use this alone because it was just odd to have clear balm with glitter just on the lips.
All in all it's wonderfully moisturizing but I won't be reaching for it because of the chunky glitter.
And that is all that I got in my August Glam Bag! I know this is super late but school has started for the both of us and I already have tons of work to do. My September Glam Bag has arrived already and I've been testing out the products already. I'm really enjoying these glam bags so far and I think I'll be sticking with this beauty subscription.
