Hello everyone! This is a new 'segment' on our blog where I talk of some interesting beauty finds at the drugstore. This isn't necessarily a full on review but more like a first impression but less critical. Does that make sense?
Anyways, this month the drugstore has been coming out with a bunch of new makeup for the spring. So that's super exciting and means a lot more reviews here on the blog!
I found these at a display at CVS actually hidden from all the other new Maybelline products that were out. I don't normally go to CSV because it's one of the more expensive drugstores, or whatever that means, and I haven't seen these products at any of my local Rite Aid of Walgreens stores. So of course, I had to pick them up! Let's start off with the Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo.
The Color Tattoo's have been out for a long time in the drugstores now. But, from time to time Maybelline will release limited edition colors for the line. This was the only one on the display so I decided to pick it up and it is called 260 Matte Brown.
Now, the Color Tattoo's do have other matte cream colors but there isn't much so when this came out I was excited to get it.
Here is a swatch of what the product looks like. I was a little disappointed in it because to me it doesn't look like a brown at all but more like a dark gray. It reminds a lot of Tough As Taupe but a bit darker and with a brown undertone. I was expecting a richer brown.
It is matte and I love that but the formulation is not as creamy. Its a bit drying and when I applied the cream shadow on my lids, I had difficulty blending it out. It's an okay cream shadow. I will definitely be using it from time to time but this is definitely not one of my favorites out of all the other Maybelline Color Tattoo's.
Next up is the Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lipgloss in 315 Chocolate Lust. Again, like the Color Tattoo, this is a limited edition color.
I've been really interested in darker lip colors lately and I don't know why. You can have Jalisa attest to that! I feel like I have so many pinks and nudes that its time to go outside of the box. I have never tried any of the Color Sensational lip glosses so I figured I would kill two birds with one stone. Besides, I also thought working with a darker lipgloss would be easier than using an actual pigmented lipstick.
Here is the lipgloss swatched and first impressions wise, I fell in love. I absolutely love this color, its my new obsession. Anything burgundy or deep is what I've been loving for winter.
Here is what the gloss looks like on the lips. This is with only one application. It does sink into the crevices of my lips a bit but it is a very buildable gloss. With two coats, it is very pigmented and glossy. I love the feeling on my lips because it is not a sticky gloss and it just feels so comfortable to wear.
So, that is all that I have for my makeup find of the month. This isn't all that I've bought from the drugstore for this month but the rest are possibly going to be put in reviews. I hope you like this quick post! If you were to ask me which of these two to buy than I would have to go with the gloss. I've worn it more often than I thought I ever would. And if you're not feeling this particular color, try out all the other colors from this line. I personally like the formula of this lipgloss.
Let me know what you liked at the drugstore this month and any other recommendations you may have.
