SPOILER ALERT: This is an awesome product. In fact, I can easily that this is a HOLY GRAIL product. I am writing this review in the winter time, and let's just say my skin suffered some trauma. I go to school in Boston, and the temperature is a bit lower than the normal back home. It was about a month or so ago, and all of a sudden my face sprouted small bumps all over. My entire face was pretty much blotchy and it felt like I had completely different skin. I am usually combo-oily, so these bumps and small acne have never occurred before. So I thought, "I NEED A MIRACLE." And this is that miracle.
I tried different cleansers and such to combat what was happening on my face, and after much consideration, I've come to the conclusion that my skin is acting the way it is due to dryness. Luckily, I received a 500-point Boscia set from Sephora, which included a mini Tsubaki Beauty Oil. At this point, I was ready to try anything, and once i put this all over my face, I knew this would change my skincare routine FOREVER.
Here is what the box says about the Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil:
"An anti-aging botanical blend of cold-pressed Tsubaki (Camellia) Oil and protein rich Wakame (Japanese Sea Kelp), both of which provide serious protection against free radical damage. Hydrates and replenishes, leaving skin smoother, softer and more supple. Helps prevent premature signs of aging by defending the skin against free radical damage. Tsubaki Oil (Camellia Oil firms, hydrates and protects against free radical damage. Wakame (Japanese Sea Kelp) replenishes essential proteins, and increases collagen production. Rice Bran Oil reduces dark spots and increases micro-circulation for soft, glowing skin." <-- (damn this is a long description lol)
It also states that this product free from preservatives, artificial colors and fragrances, etc., and it is Dermatologist tested.
Overall Thoughts:
Packaging:
The bottle contains 50 mL of product, which I guess is a lot. Pretty much all the beauty oils out on the market contain the same amount of product. The bottle itself is made out of glass, which doesn't make it very travel-friendly. To extract the product, the top functions as a dropper, which is perfect for applying the oil to the skin, since it recommends using only 2-3 drops morning/night. It may not seem like a lot, but I guarantee that it is plenty of product to massage into the face, even a little bit on the neck.
Smell:
The scent of the oil is a soft, citrus-y/fruity smell. Personally, I like the smell, but I am usually drawn towards that type of scent. When you apply the product on the face, you don't smell it at all.
Application:
I use 2-3 drops worth of product: One drop on my forehead, and the other 2 drops for each cheek. I massage the oil in, to spread it out, then I lightly pat my face. I don't know if the patting motion does anything, but I like to think that it penetrates the skin better that way. Oh, I usually only apply the product at night, so it works its magic while I sleep, but if I feel like my skin needs a bit of moisture the next day, I will usually only apply 1 drop.
Results:
When I wake up in the morning, I notice that my skin looks radiant and glow-y. My face definitely looks moisturized. When I touch my skin, it doesn't feel greasy, and the texture is definitely softer than it would be if I didn't use this product. It just looks like my skin came back from the dead, dry, dull skin it is after a cold, windy day and a hot shower.
Pros:
- Easily soaked into the skin
- Results are a radiant and moisturized face
- Improved skin texture
Cons:
- Not very travel-friendly
Final Thoughts:
This may sound pretty bad, but I did not moisturize my face at all before this product. My skin would be normal after I've taken a shower at night, and then my face would turn eventually oily, overnight and onto the next day. However, once I started using this product, I felt like my skin wasn't producing as much oil. It's weird, because you would think that using oil as a moisturizer would just make you more oily, but the exact opposite happened. Not only does my skin produce less oil than it normally would, it looks and feels more supple and nourished. I guess fighting oil with oil really works. The bumps and blotchiness have significantly decreased. I doubt they will completely go away, because of the weather, but this product definitely helps keep my skin in check. Honestly, I don't know what I would do without this product. I will definitely repurchase this product, once it runs out. Although, I am pretty sure this bottle will last at least a year.
Grade: A++
