Hello there :)
Today, I present you this glorious thing. The LORAC Unzipped Palette. I was at Ulta the other day and I was just wandering around, until I went to the LORAC section and saw this. Oh my gosh, the thoughts that ran through my head were those of any shopaholic/makeup obsessed person out there:
"It's so pretty."
"Should I buy it?"
"This is like an investment. It'll pay out in the end."
And there you have it. Now this palette is in my hands. I have been restricting myself from even touching it, because I wanted to do this first impressions. But, after swatching it and such, I know this was worth the purchase :)
The packaging is made of what I assume is like a plastic-y cardboard material. It is pretty thing and lightweight, so it would be great to bring on your travels.Once you open the palette, you see the beautiful ten shades, which contain a mix of matte and shimmery shades (below). The palette also includes a mini Behind the Scenes Eye Primer.
The palette contains 3 matte and 7 shimmery shades. Similar to the LORAC PRO Palette, this is a very versatile palette, that can create looks for day to night. The possibilities are endless. Plus, the size of the eyeshadows are slightly larger than the ones in the Pro palette.
The quality of the shadows in this palette are super buttery and soft. They are great quality and have high pigmentation.
Here are swatches of the top row (L-R):
Undercover is a cream color. It is only slightly shimmery, so it will appear as a matte shade.
Unbelievable is a rose/copper/champagne shade.
Unattainable is a gold/light bronze shade. However in the pan, it looks a bit like a pewter.
Unconditional is a matte mauve shade.
Unbridled is a complex color, in my mind. It is a mix of a chocolate brown/burgundy/plum color.
Here are swatches of the bottom row (L-R):
Undiscovered is a light gold color.
Unreal is a true champagne color. This would be a great color all over the lid or as a highlight.
Uncensored is a warm bronze color.
Unspoken is a matte, medium brown color. This would be a great color to use in the crease.
Untamed is cool-toned, dark brown shade. It looks slightly shimmery in the pan, however it doesn't translate as shimmery when swatched.
** The swatches are made without a primer underneath
First Impressions:
As I expected, the quality is great. The shades are very buttery and highly pigmented. However, I do have one complaint. The matte shades have a drier texture than the shimmery shades, meaning they aren't as pigmented. Because the matte shades aren't as pigmented, there is a chance it might appear a bit patchy on the eyes, if not blended properly. Also, it might take more effort to create a deep color in the outer corner, especially if using the matte shades. Other than that, this is a really great palette to add to my collection, and I think it would be a great palette to add to yours too, if you are looking for a neutral palette.
Pros:
- Variety of neutral colors
- Able to create many looks, from day to night
- Buttery, smooth shades
- Great pigmentation
Cons:
- Matte shades a bit dry in texture, so not as pigmented
Overall Thoughts:
This is a really great palette to add to your collection, if you want a neutral palette, which is cheaper than the Naked Palettes. These are really quality eyeshadows. I know this is a great addition to my collection.
