Welcome to Amaryllis Living's first ever fashion review! We've been doing beauty for a really long time and it's nice to change pace once in a while.
So every Christmas Jalisa, Danielle, and I give each other gifts with a condition, we tell each other what we want and that there is a $50 spending limit. I know right? How festive. But really it's better this way! I hate getting someone something and the lather doesn't like it or doesn't respond the way I was expecting them to. I mean I totally do the same thing and its just a waste of money. So, for about two or three years now this has been our system and everyone is always happy in the end.
For this year, I asked Jalisa to get me two items from Sheinside that I had been wanting for a while. I heard from this site from youtubers and from looking for specific pieces of clothing on google. I heard good things about the site and saw that they had clothes that weren't available at actual stores or at my favorite place in the world Forever 21. I had already accumulated a long wish list and made Jalisa choose two because each piece was about $20 or more even on sale. When it was finally ordered, I was super excited to receive it!
Let's get on the review and check out what I received.
Let me just tell you that shipping absolutely sucked. I mean...it took about a month to come and like two weeks to process and to track it. Jalisa had ordered it way before Christmas and it didn't even arrive on time. I got it around New Years Eve. So it was pretty ridiculous. I guess because Sheinside ships from Asia that it takes a while but still...I didn't get alerts, nothing. But, being the optimistic person I am, I figured the clothing would be so worth it. Well...
The two items that I got were the Pink Longsleeve Sunflower Pattern Knit Sweater and the Beige Longsleeve Elbow Contrast Leather Sweater and cost altogether $45.58. They were both on sale. Check out the links to see what they look like on the site.
First up, is the pink flower knit sweater. This is what it looks like on me. As you can see it is much shorter than what it appears on the website, therefore I was quite disappointed by it. I knew it was going to be short, maybe sitting just on my waist, but I didn't think it was going to be this short. It hits right above my bellybutton therefore it is a cropped sweater. I don't usually go for cropped sweaters just because I feel like this doesn't suit me but I tried it with a midi skirt and I think it looks wearable and okay. I wouldn't suggest wearing leggings with it because well it doesn't cover your bottom part.
Here is this sweater at a different angle. It really makes my chest look big and I do have a big bust but the sweater just accentuates it even more. I'm not the skinniest of persons but I think my boob adds to why its not at all as long as it appears on the site.
Overall, I really like the print and color. Quality wise it is a thick sweater and it feels rather warm. The length just really kills me.
Now the second item that I received is this cream, elbow patch cardigan. It has a subtle high low because it can cover my butt if I stretch it down enough. The sweater has a nice braided pattern in the middle and comes embellished with brown buttons. It is cropped once again, sitting in the middle of my belly. It is not as short as the pink sweater but not as long either. This would have been so much cuter if it was longer and more loose.
The sweater is tight around the arms and the elbow patches don't even match up to the elbows! I consistently have to push down on the sleeves for it to line up. It is a nice thick elbow patch and I love the color of it but it just looks out of place and odd when worn.
To style it, I would wear a skater dress that I have or wear high waisted jeans. I like it better than than the pink sweater because I can wear it without feeling uncomfortable. With the pink one, I feel slightly uncomfortable.
Here is what the elbow patch looks like. So cute right? Only if it lined up to my elbows!
To recap, here are the two items of clothing that I talked about in this post.
Final Thoughts:
Would I buy from Sheinside again? Honestly, I don't know. The reason why is because they really have some really cute stuff. I like the quality and all but the proportions are way off from the website. I mean they do have the length chart but eh. And all the reviews on the site are by people who DIDN'T EVEN BUY THE PRODUCT AT ALL YET. So that's not super helpful at all! The shipping sucks and takes FOREVER to even be processed. I don't know, we'll have to see. Maybe if they have a good sale going on I'll give the site another go.
Grades:
Quality: A-
True To Picture/Size: D, the picture on the site is deceiving
Shipping: D, I can't blame them really because they ship from Asia, but I'd like updates!
Customer Service: N/A, I did not reach out to the site
Customer Satisfaction: C, extremely disappointed by the length of the clothing
Would I Recommend This Site?: Maybe, because maybe for others with a different body shape these products would fit better. One size fits all really doesn't necessarily mean it will fit all.
Would I Give This Site Another Try?: Yes, but way into the future like if they have better sales, which they often do have sales, but not anytime soon. I'm still disappointed!
Overall Grade:
C
Thanks for reading our very first fashion review! Please leave us a comment and leave me some site recommendations! I still want to buy some cute clothes. Maybe there is a better site with better quality and true to the picture type of shopping site. I'd truly appreciate it if you let me know!
