Hello wonderful readers of our blog! It has been a while since I last did a Beauty Blunder! I love doing these posts because it not only gives me reflection on the products that I've bought but it also gives our readers a chance to either stay away from these beauty blunders or give them a try for themselves. I have a cheap drugstore product to talk about today and it is the E.LF. Lip Stain in Berry Blush.
This lip stain only costs $2 at Target or on the E.L.F. website so I don't feel as bad that this turned out to be a blunder but I had high hopes for it because it seemed like it would work. This lip stain looks just like a marker and if you remember when Revlon came out with a marker style lip stain a couple of years ago, then it is basically the same thing. Although, I should have learned my lesson with it because I did not like those Revlon lip stains at all. But the Revlon ones cost like probably $6 to $8 so I'm happy that I didn't spend that much this time.
Claims: Get beautiful precision color that lasts for hours with this pigment rich lip stain marker. The pen-like tip lets you draw on color easily for a streak & smudge free professional look. Infused with nourishing Vitamin E to hydrate and moisturize lips.
The claims sounded really great but we know its a blunder so if you want to know more about my thoughts and experience with this product, click on read more!
Again, the E.L.F. lip stain looks like a marker and is in the color Berry Blush.
Here's what it looks like swatched.
As you can see, this lip stain isn't very pigmented at all. It looked promising in the swatch but it barely showed up on my lips and I often have this problem with stains in which it colors well on my bottom lip but on my top lip it looks super patchy. But, it did look very natural, and not too harsh like a very high pigmented lip stain.
Layering this stain was a nightmare because it just didn't work for me at all. It still looked like my bottom lip was darker than my top. The color also seeped in the cracks and crevices of my lips even though my lips were moisturized. I'm pretty sure that if you were to try this on with dry lips, it would look horrible.
As for the lip stain being moisturizing, it wasn't at all. It just felt awkward on my lips and definitely dry. I had to apply on lip balm right after.
What was really good about this stain was that it actually is long lasting. I wanted to take it off of my lips immediately after I tried it on but you could still see the color no matter how hard I tried to wipe it off. If this lip stain wasn't so streaky and inconsistent, then I would have enjoyed this much better.
So, if you like a natural looking lip stain with long lasting power then this is for you. But ONLY, if you're able to work with the patchiness because...all lips are not created equal. For $2, you could definitely try this stain out for yourself and see if it works for you. I know I won't be purchasing other colors because it was a horrible experience for me. My dream of the perfect lip stain has yet to be attained!

Love Always,
