February Drugstore Makeup Find Of The Month: Real Techniques, NYC, & Wet N' Wild

Hello everyone and welcome back to another makeup find of the month! Hurray for the consistency. February is almost over and I found some interesting things at the drugstore that I would like to share.

First up is this Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I've been wanting this for a while and when it first came out, I couldn't find it anywhere! After months and months since its been out I finally found it at Ulta, the only one left in the stand, and I grabbed it and bought it.

I was super excited to finally own it because from what I've heard it's a pretty comparable dupe to the beauty blender. Now, I don't own the beauty blender but I hope to one day but this sponge is a much cheaper alternative. This only retails for $6! It was practically a steal.

As you can see this sponge has a much different shape from the beauty blender. It has a flat edge which it says helps with contouring around the eyes and nose. The sides of it blends large areas of the face and the tip covers imperfections (thank god for the diagram on the back of the packaging).

So far, this is an absolutely amazing sponge. You have to damp it to get its full effect and I was so amazed at how much bigger the sponge got once it was wet. Its twice the size from the original! It feels super nice on my skin and my foundation looks ten times better applied with this. I've really only used it for my foundation and haven't tried contouring with it or anything but so far so good! If you want a good quality beauty sponge I suggest you pick up this one!

The next beauty item I got at the drugstore this month is the NYC City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color.

I got these in the color 031 Gramercy Park Plum (top) and 011 Brooklyn Brown Stone (bottom). A bunch of brands have been coming out with twistable lipsticks so its been my unofficial mission to collect them all (really I just get sucked into buying them).

I've been really enjoying them this month. I'm so into dark and pinky nude lips lately. It's the only lip colors that I'm interested in.  Anyways, they are super smooth and just glide on my lips so nicely and evenly. They are super pigmented. My only real complaint would be the color inside is not the exact color of the packaging, maybe a little lighter? But I still like it and it works for my skin tone.

Here is what the twistables look like swatched with Gramercy Plum on the left and Brooklyn Brown Stone on the right. It looks a bit darker on my hand but on the lips its slightly lighter.

And finally for my last drugstore find of the month are the Wet N' Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Colour. Wow, that was a long name. I've heard that these were out for quite some time but I never saw it at my local drugstores. I was home recently at a nearby Rite Aid and I was looking through the display of new makeup and by chance I saw these at the bottom of the display. I got excited but there were only a few shades late. I didn't like them really but I ended up getting two pinks that I thought would work out for me.

The colors I have pictured here are 126 Rico Mauve (top) and 128 Pinky Promise (bottom). The one thing I absolutely love about this product is the packaging. It looks like any balm stick product but the cap is different. The cap actually clicks shut, making this travel and purse friendly. All balm sticks should be like this!

Here's what the megaslicks look like swatched with Rico Mauve on the left and Pinky Promise on the right. The pigmentation is there and these look like pretty natural colors but when I applied it on my lips it came off a lot lighter than the packaging suggests. So as of right now I'm not very fond of these. Like the mauve isn't really a mauve at all it's actually a bright pink. The swatch is actually what it looks like in the packaging. The other color, Pinky Promise, turned out to be a really light pink. It wasn't my taste but I think I can work with it.

I do like the formulation and the feel of these balm stains. They are soft and apply on smoothly. I'd say these definitely stain my lips. They aren't long lasting or anything like that but it leaves a nice stain. I sometimes prefer the after stain rather than the full on application of the lipstick. It also has a peppermint feel to it so if you like that I would suggest this because it does feel refreshing on my lips. I think these would be better to use in the springtime.

So that's all I have for my drugstore makeup finds of the month. I hope you enjoyed this post. Thanks so much for supporting Amaryllis Living and reading our blogs.
