Review: Colourpop Cosmetics Forever Freshman Collection

Colourpop has seriously been killing the beauty game. I'm always intrigued by their new launches and this time was no exception.  I’m always intrigued by their new launches and this time was no exception. One of their recent launches is called the “Forever Freshman” Collection.

This collection includes a six piece eyeshadow set that includes all brand new shades as well as their classic super shock shadow formula. This collection is all about taking it back to the 90’s (my favorite era) and I’m super excited to talk about each shadow.

Again, this set includes six super shock shadows. The colors are Crimper, As If, Melrose, Koosh, 90210, and Baby-T. These are all named with 90's themed names and I just love that.

So click on Read More to check out individual swatches of each shadow and my thoughts as well!

The first row of this shadow set consists of Crimper, As If, and Melrose.

Crimper is described as a "soft gold with multi-dimensional gold glitter" and is a metallic finish Super Shock shadow. As you can see swatched it is a soft gold glitter. The glitter in it is very fine and not chunky. Although it is a metallic finish shadow, it isn't that pigmented on the eyes. It more serves as a glitter gold iridescent and what I like to use it for is to top it over any dark shadow that I feel needs brightening.

The next shadow is As If. This is a "mid-tone cool taupe" and is a matte finish shadow. This is a gorgeous matte muted brown with purple undertones. I would suggest applying this shadow with your fingers because it produces the most pigmentation this way. While it is soft and velvety, it is hard to blend with a brush.

The last shadow of the top row is Melrose. Melrose is described as a "true rust" and is a matte finish shadow. This is a very pigmented copper orange rust shadow. Unlike As If, this matte shadow blends easily on the lids with a brush and keeps its color. I feel like it almost stains the lids because it lasts all day.

Now for the bottom row of the eyeshadow set. This includes the shades Koosh, 90210, and Baby-T.

Koosh is a "icy silver taupe" and is a ultra metallic finish eyeshadow. This is a gorgeous and ultra pigmented silver. It is warm toned and I think this could be amazing on any skin tone. I really like using this shade for a dramatic look because it just looks awesome on the lids. It gives off a wet eye look and is definitely one of my favorites of the bunch.

Next is the shade 90210. It is described as a "greyed out taupe softly sprinkled with pink and gold glitter" and is a satin luxe finish. While this is one of the more wearable shades of the set, it is honestly one of the more disappointing shadows. I just think it is so dull especially on my skin tone. The pink and gold glitter are very sparse and I see more of the gold glitter. This also has a more brown undertone so I thought this would be great all over the lid but it's just so...bleh. I also tried to use it on the outer corner of my lid to smoke out but it just made the look dull. It might be the finish or the color but this is my least favorite.

And lastly from this set is Baby-T. Baby-T is described as a "deep blackened blue" with a matte finish. This is a beautiful navy blue but I wouldn't say it is matte. It has a satin blue sheen and is creamy. I will say that as I blended this on the lids it does lose color and becomes a little sheer. I feel that as long as you pack it on it will give off an amazing vibrant color. So you'll have to work with this shadow a little more to get the true pigmentation.

And that is it for my review of the Colourpop Forever Freshman Super Shock shadow set collection! Overall, this set is okay for the price. It has some colors that I don't think is wearable for everyday and some of the shadows and finishes were a little disappointing in comparison to when I reviewed the Not a Box of Chocolates eyeshadow set from Colourpop's holiday collection from last December. I really like that Colourpop is sticking with the trends and creating amazing products for their brand that I as a consumer would love to buy. I do love the 90's theme of the box and the awesome names but I honestly don't reach for these shades as often. I would skip over this box set or if you're a "beauty collector" like me then I think this is a fun addition to the collection. It has amazing colors like Baby-T and Koosh but overall not a set I would buy if I wanted to use it everyday (unless you wear these colors everyday, you do you girl/guy!)
