October 2015 Ipsy Glam Bag: Alter Ego

Hello babes and welcome to another Ipsy Glam Bag review! For the month of October, the theme is Alter Ego, which is of course in correlation with Halloween. The bag for this month is gorgeous with its main colors being gold and black. It's simple with the front being gold and the back, as well as the zipper detailing, is black. I love the simplicity that the Ipsy bags bring and I'm definitely going to be using this to carry around my makeup in my purse.

As usual, there are five beauty items that you can receive in each bag. This is a monthly subscription service based on a quiz that you take before signing up for the bag. So, if you want to know what I got this month please click on read more!

The first product in my bag is the MicaBeauty Ipsy Exclusive Cream Eyeshadow in the color Bronze.

Claims: This light-weight, long-wear, creamy eyeshadow by MicaBeauty is truly one of a kind! It's ultra-pigmented, has super-smooth consistency, and creates a high performance color sweep that will last like new from morning to night! This product isn't sold in store-it's exclusive for ipsters! Non-creasing, Light-weight, Long-wear.

Now I wouldn't say this cream shadow is bronze, it's more like a bright gold. While the shadow watched beautifully and creamy, it did not transfer well on the lids. It goes on patchy and it seems more like not enough product leaves either my brush or my finger and I just get stuck with too much product on my tool and not on my lids. So, you really have to build up the shadow to get a good color payoff.

What I did like about the cream shadow was that it did not crease at all up until the end of the day. I thought it would crease like crazy since I layered a lot on but it did not at all. If this went on the lids better, I would be in love with this shadow. But because of it I probably won't be using this a lot or I'll just use it as a base for powder shadows.

Next up is the Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion.

Claims: Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion is a revolutionary formula designed to mimic the transformative brightening, smoothing effects of the popular in-office microdermabrasion treatment, at home. Enables better absorption of skincare products. An at home alternative to professional, clinical treatments. Helps diminish the appearance of fine lines, acne marks, and skin discolorations.

As you all know, I'm always hesitant in trying out new skin care products just because I'm 1) not super interested in skin care and 2) Ipsy's choice of skin care products have been meh for me. After reading the description of the Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion, I still wasn't sure what this was all about except that it is supposed to brighten and smooth the skin.

The first time I used this, I noticed that this is a cream texture with little exfoliating beads on it. It smells like fresh medicinal mint but not too overpowering that I would hate it. It's actually pleasant. Once I rubbed this on my skin, I like how it felt. It is a little grainy but it's not annoying enough to wash off. After, my skin felt a little smoother and since I'm getting dry patches because of winter, it took those away. I like it first impression wise but I don't see the brightening effects. I will continue to use this but so far so good!

The exciting third item in this bag is theBalm Cosmetics Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in the color Committed.

Claims: theBalm introduces a truly loyal long-lasting liquid lipstick-Meet Matt(e) Hughes. This long-wearing formula has a comfortable matte finish with no commitment issues. This matte vanilla mint liquid lipstick is stick on you without feeling clingy! Long-wearing matte finish. Comfortable, buildable coverage. Vanilla mint flavor.

The best thing about this liquid lipstick is that it SMELLS EXACTLY LIKE THIN MINTS. It is heaven! This is by far the best smelling liquid lipstick I have ever smelled. The smell does give you a minty feeling on the lips and it does linger a little bit but it doesn't smell all day.

Here's what it looks like swatched on my hand.

And now swatched on my lips!

The color that I received was Committed which on me looks like a muted coral but it is described as a pinky nude. While I'm not in love with the color against my skintone, I think that the formula is awesome for a liquid lipstick. They are pigmented and wears well on the lips. It's not super drying and it sits comfortably without it feeling like it's there. The lasting power of these are pretty good. I mean when you eat and drink throughout the day it does start to fade on the inside of the lips but it's not horrible enough that a quick touch up can't fix.

I would totally be into buying different colors of these liquid lipsticks. I think that the small sample Ipsy has given us will last a while and even the full size ($17) is pretty affordable for a high end brand.

Next is the Emite Make Up Professional Slant Tweezer.

Claims: This is a professional angled tweezer in quality steel. It applies the perfect amount of tension and maximum precision.

These are just your classic run of the mill tweezers. I love that it's pink so that I can find it easily amongst the mess that is my makeup. And, it tweezes my eyebrows well. So overall there's not much to say except that it does the job well!

And finally is the Delectable Coconut & Cream Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream

Claims: This ultra nourishing hand cream is miracle material. Packed full of goodness with shea butter, coconut, and aloe vera, the cream's rich but never greasy formula nourishes and rejuvenates hands and cuticles. Enjoy the super smooth, soft, and perfectly pretty results. Quick absorbing. Softens and conditions. All natural ingredients: Paraben and gluten free.

Honestly, I don't like this hand cream. The only reason why I don't like it is because of the smell. I have such an aversion to sickly sweet coconut smells and this is exactly what this hand cream smells like. I tried to try it but I just couldn't do it! I can't say much about this hand cream since I've already passed this over to someone who can appreciate the smell but I'm quiet disappointed that it was one of the full size products from this bag beside the cream shadow. I wish it was a small sample size so that I wouldn't be as bothered to have given it away.
