Hey guys! Today I have my November 2015 Ipsy Glam Bag review. For this month the theme is Beauty Blast. Can you guys see how gorgeous this bag is?! It looks like those galaxy leggings that I've always wanted but was too scared to commit. And now I have this really cute bag. I've been really into the design of these Ipsy bags and the uniqueness of them.
As usual, Ipsy gives five either sample or full size beauty products based on your beauty/style quiz. This is a monthly subscription bag so if you want to know what I received this month please click on the Read More below!
The first item in my bag is the Crown Brush Deluxe Pointed Crease Brush.
Claims: This handcrafted professional pointed crease brush is perfectly tapered to give you optimum coverage and color in the crease. The fluffy tip works well for blending multiple colors. Perfect for layering color or creating a smokey eye.
While this a nice brush to have received in this months bag, it's not the best quality of brush that I've owned. You can tell once you feel the bristles of this brush is that it is scratchy. While it does transfer eyeshadow nicely from the shadow to lid, it just doesn't feel nice.
This is my first time trying out a Crown brush so I can't say anything about the brand themselves since this is the only brush I've ever tried from them. But this brush was a no go. I'd probably use it if I'm in a bind since it's a nice brush to have as a backup's backup.
The second item in this bag is the Jelly Pong Pong Liquid Gossamer.
Claims: A lightweight, water-based luminizer that gives skin instant radiance while keeping it moisturized at the same time. Formulated with ultra-fine, light-refracting coated mica pigments in a sheer, soft cream that gives your skin an ethereal, youthful-looking glow. 78% natural. No paragons. No animal by-products.
This liquid gossamer is definitely one of the more interesting products that I've received in my bag. In it's description, I'm assuming that it's a liquid highlight in which you can mix it in with your foundation or what not and make your skin look luminous or you can use it on its own for highlighting the face.
I did have a liquid highlighter before and it's not something that I reach for in comparison to my powder highlighters. So I decided to try this as a highlighter as well as to mix this in with my foundation. The first thing I noticed was the scent. It has such a strong floral scent so that may turn people off to it. As for the texture, it is really liquidy but it seems like a nice champagne color.
The first thing I tried with this gossamer is to put it on as a highlight. A little goes a long way with this product and warning it dries fast. Honestly I was applying it hesitantly and therefore it did not blend and left highlighting streak marks on my cheekbones. So when I tried it again I found that you have to put it on the cheek bone right away. The product itself has a nice highlight sheen to it but it's not overly dramatic.
As for mixing it in with foundation, it mixed well. It does give a luminous glow to the skin and I liked it a lot better this way. I would have liked this a lot better if it didn't have such a strong scent to it.
Next up is the Figs & Rouge Mattifying Emulsion & Pore Refiner.
Claims: Figs & Rouge Mattifying Emulsion & Pore refiner provides sheer matte coverage for daily shine control. Developed with a clinically proven formula, it helps diminish blemishes & outbreaks with regular daily use. Refines & Minimizes pores. Controls shine in an instant. Creates a luxurious 'velvety touch' effect. Clinically proven ingredients that helps control breakouts & supports clearer complexion.
Spoiler alert: This too has a strong scent. This one smells like older woman perfume and some coconut, it's truly strange. While I don't like that it's overly scented, I do actually like the primer itself.
This is a liquidy primer and applies onto the skin very well. The scent does fade away and it doesn't linger on the skin. I didn't find that it filled my pores but it did give my skin a matte look to it which I appreciate. Now I'm not sure whether it has helped with my blemishes but it keeps my face oil free for the entire day. I really do like this primer but the scent is not one of my favorites.
Next is the Smashbox Cosmetics Full Exposure Mascara.
Claims: Inspired by the on-set technique of layering a lengthening fiber mascara over a volumizing formula, this new studio-tested mascara exposes your longest, fullest lashes. No clumps, no flakes. Just maximum-impact, scene-stealing lashes. 104% increase in lash volume. 32% increase in lash length. 34 degree increase in lash curl.
Surprisingly, I've never tried out this mascara and I was glad to finally try this in a sample size. I found that the formula of this mascara is very dry and I prefer a wet formula mascara. I really like the brush wand of this mascara. It is large and I feel like it grabs hold of my lashes well.
I found that while this lengthens my lashes, it doesn't really volumize them. Because of that there aren't any clumps or flaking throughout the day. My lashes did keep the curl at the end of the day but overall it did not amaze me.
And lastly is the Absolute New York Nano Liner.
Claims: This ultra-fine liner features a super slim, tapered felt tip that allows for pin point precision. Experience unprecedented versatility - from subtle definition to the boldest of black. Water-resistant, fade resistant, smudge resistant. Paraben free, fragrance free.
This is the item from my bag that I was most excited about. I love trying out new liquid eyeliners and the promises that this eye liner gave really intrigued me.
The felt tip as you can see is extremely thin. While this gives you a precise line, I did find that it was too flexible for me to really flick my wing out. It also felt too flimsy when filling in my eye liner so I tended to opt for a gel liner. I like the felt tip for outlining my winged eyeliner but I don't like it for filling them.
The formula of this liner is very black and I love how pigmented it is. It lasts all day and doesn't fade or smudge at all. This is a great liner if you're not doing winged liner and it'll give you a nice precise pigmented line.
And that is it for my November 2015 Ipsy glam bag! Sorry it's late but school around this time is the absolute worse. Please let me know what you got in your Ipsy bag and if you got the same items on me. I'd love to know! Please follow all my social media links on the right and I'll be sure to do the same.
Love Always,
