Review: Colourpop Cosmetics Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick

Happy Monday beautiful's! Let's grab a cup of coffee and talk about the one beauty item that I cannot wait to get more of, liquid lipsticks. Okay, so let's think about around the end of May into June when Colourpop Cosmetics launched their own line of Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks. Here are the top three thoughts that crossed my mind.

1) How much is it?!

2) What are the color shades?!

3) HOW CAN I BUY THIS RIGHT NOW?!?!?!?

For hours, I researched on Youtube for any lip swatches of all the shades Colourpop was intending to release so that I could pick out the colors that I really wanted. If I had it my way I would have honestly bought the entire line because each was only $6 but of course I'm a broke college student and if I were to do that, no matter how amazing the price was, it seriously takes a toll on my wallet. So after hours of searching I narrowed down my choices to five that I thought I would wear often.

But getting those five were a nightmare. The moment the liquid lipsticks launched on their website, it was impossible to get any order in. But I persevered on because that's what a makeup enthusiast (aka addict) does! I WANTED--nope NEEDED these liquid lipsticks and I didn't care how long it would take for me to get them. After probably two whole hours on the website, I finally got to place my order!

So the five liquid lipsticks that I purchased are Tulle, Bumble, Trap, Highball and LAX. These are the colors that I thought I would wear the heck out of. So please click on read more if you want to find out my thoughts on these Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks!

From left to right I have Tulle, Bumble, Trap, Highball, and LAX swatched. First impressions wise, they are amazingly pigmented. They are all such beautiful colors and exactly what they looked like online. So let's start out with Tulle!

Tulle is described as "Not the douchey kind but a dusty mauve burgundy". Goodness, Tulle is undoubtedly my most favorite out of the bunch. It looks lighter here but this is the perfect 90's lip color that everyone is vying for. It's that perfect mauve for my skin tone and I absolutely love it.

Bumble is a "Everyone will bee buzzing when you wear this dusty warm terracotta" color. Bumble is a color I prefer on when I don't have a tan. It's definitely a warm terracotta but on a tan it can look a little neon. Nonetheless, this is one of the more wearable colors that I've purchased from the bunch and is the second most worn aside from Tulle.

Trap is like a "We're like 'hey what's up hello' in this dusty greyed out beige ('greige')" color.  Greige lips is such a huge trend right now and I had to hop on this trend even though it honestly looks a little chalky in this picture. But trust! This is actually flattering on me with the right eye look and (heavy handed) contour.

Highball is described as the "You'll have plenty of Happy Hours in this hot red pink" shade. This was staple summer lip color when I wanted something bright and fun to wear. This color is definitely a statement on its own and it was so beautiful on tanned skin.

And finally, the toughest one to take a good picture of is LAX. It is described as the "You'll be super chic in this vampy blackened red whether you're landing in LAX or JFK". This is a great black red color, perfect for the fall and winter months, and seriously the hardest one to take a good lip picture of #struggles.

Overall, I like these ultra matte liquid lipsticks. I've been in such a huge liquid lipstick kick that I don't even know if I'll be getting out of it soon. And I love it! What I love especially about Colourpop is that they pride on high quality products for affordable prices. These liquid lipsticks are only $6 and at a drugstore price, are amazing quality. This is a beautiful segway into what I think about the formula.

The formula is really liquidy and it applies on the lips super easily. This dries quickly but you do have some time (I mean like a good couple of seconds) to apply it on the lips. I would suggest using a lipliner to really perfect it but because I'm a lazy girl, I find that the doe foot applicator is perfectly fine. Once the lipstick dries it is completely ultra matte. The matte-est liquid lipstick I've ever tried. This is a very drying formula so it will dry your lips. Colourpop suggests that you should have completely bare and dry lips for this to really work but I find that putting a balm underneath makes it more comfortable and moisturizing to wear. It will accentuate any dryness if you don't exfoliate!

These lasts for an entire day with only minimal touchups. I find that it starts to fade the most on the inside of the middle of my lips especially if I eat oily foods. With LAX, one of the darker shades of the collection, little flecks do tend to rubs off and go on my face but it's nothing that I can't just flick it away. Other than that the lasting power is awesome.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoy these liquid lipsticks. They are at an affordable price and they are super pigmented. They last all day and there's such a great variety of colors. They've even added more shades for Fall and I'm definitely going to buy them.
