September 2015 Ipsy Glam Bag: Face Fashion

Hello everybody and welcome back to the blog. Today's post is all about the September 2015 Ipsy Bag. It's been a while since I've been on time right? But hey I'm trying! For this month's Ipsy bag the theme is Face Fashion.

The bag's design for this month is so pretty and fashionable! It's a longer bag in comparison to the other bags from previous months. The color of the bag is a beautiful rose gold (which I love) and has two different types of texture. The main point of the bag is the design of the front which is a textured chevron and has subtle gold metallic reflects. The back as well as the upper zipper front of the bag is a plain shiny rose gold. I personally really like this bag and I like that it's a different size this month. It's really pretty and reflects well on the name of the theme.

As usual, Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service, that tailors to your personal style/beauty quiz. You will receive five different beauty items each month for only $10. I've been impressed with Ipsy so far so let's see if Ipsy has impressed me again.

The first item in this bag is the NYX Cosmetics Ipsy Eye Shadow Trio.

Claims: This 3-color eye shadow palette gives you go-anywhere intensity day or night thanks to the highly pigmented formulations. Provides intense eye colors with a silky texture for seamless application for any eye look that you desire. It consists of 3 complementing eye shadows to wear together or alone. Each eye shadow provides great color payoff with every application. Create any look on the go with the help of the dual applicator that allows you to apply, smudge and line your eyes effortlessly. Exclusive palette designed by NYX just for ipsters!

This cute little trio from NYX seems to be a collaboration with Ipsy and I think it is the only shade option available so all Ipsters will be receiving this color.

The three colors from left to right are a light champagne color, a copper, and a deep brown black.

And here are the swatches!

The pigmentation of these shadows are disappointing. They aren't as pigmented upon first swatch and it is a bit powdery. What I find though is that if I use my brush wet and apply them wet, I get better pigmentation and better application. The deep brown black color is really the only one that I don't use wet and it is the most pigmented. I can get a really nice Fall look with these shades and I've been using them to create cut crease looks.

Next up is the Liptini Special Edition Lipstick in Starlet Cocktail.

Claims: Liptini Special Edition Lipsticks serve up a variety of must-have shades of velvety lip color that bring a shot of red-carpet glamour to your beauty bar. No feathering or fading. Offers buildable coverage. Paraben free and vegan. Perfect to wear alone or to cocktail with other shades!

I don't think I've ever heard about Liptini so I was excited to try out a new lip product. First off how cute is the packaging? It has a little martini glass as it's logo! Super super cute. The color that I received was in Scarlet Cocktail which is this beautiful sheer raspberry red. It can be built up to a more opaque red but I like the sheerness of it. It went on smoothly and there's actually a very heavy scent to it. It has a hint of vanilla to it and a specific flower scent that I can't put my finger on. But the scent is very strong. After apply it the first time I could still smell it as I wore it so that might throw off some people.

Other than that it's a very comfortable formula. It won't last all day especially through talking, eating, and drinking but it leaves a little bit of a stain behind which I think is better than nothing. The finish is a cream finish and doesn't dry out the lips at all. Overall, awesome lipstick. I'll definitely be reaching for this when I don't want something too bold but I want a good pop of color on the lips.

The third item in this bag is the Eau Thermale Avene Soothing Moisture Mask.

Claims: This rich, creamy, non-setting skincare mask provides intensive soothing care to dehydrated and over-stressed skin. Its unique formula deeply penetrates skin and in minutes, sensitive or tired skin can become supple, soft and radiant again. It also offers instant relief for burns, sunburns, redness, and tightness. Replenishes moisture to dehydrated skin and helps restore skin's barrier. Minimizes redness. Paraben free, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, vegan and gluten free.

This is a very interesting product that I had no idea how to use at all. While it does say that it is a mask, it doesn't have the texture of a conventional mask at all. The first time I used it I was so confused because the formula of this mask feels and smells like a lotion. Trust me you should have seen my face while I was rubbing this in. I kept trying to read the back of this sample to see what the directions were but there weren't any. So I just kept applying completely expecting it to dry like a mask but it never did.

So I rushed to my computer to research this moisture mask some more and found that yes it was a mask and that the skin was meant to absorb it. Fifteen minutes later, the mask had been completely absorbed and all I had to do was just blot some excess away. Boy was this mask really weird for me. My face felt like I had lotion on it and I wasn't sure if this was a good or bad thing. There were a lot of amazing reviews online but I just felt...sticky? What it did do was definitely give my skin moisture. It felt softer but I didn't feel clean at all. I was actually scared I was going to break out but surprisingly my skin didn't. I'll definitely have to try this mask one more time but I think that it's okay but just so weird. Let me know if you like this mask and if I'm doing anything wrong with it. I feel like I am!

The next product is the Bayberry Naturals Rosehip & Hibiscus Moisturizer

Claims: This Rosehip & hibiscus Moisturizer is the ultimate facial lotion. Lightweight, yet moisturizing, it's super packed with nutrients to aid delicate facial skin. Reshape oil is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Hibiscus extract is rich in antioxidants, as are vitamins E, B3, Pro-vitamin A, and Pro-vitamin B5-all providing both protection against free radicals as well as natural anti-inflammatory properties. Lightweight, absorbs easily and super moisturizing. Free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates and artificial fragrances and dyes. 100% vegan.

This was great that I received this in my bag this month because I'm actually running out of my moisturizer. So I'm planning to treasure this!

The texture of this moisturizer is a little bit watery so a little definitely goes a long way. It does have a nice floral scent to it but it isn't overpowering at all. This is such a lightweight moisturizer and it leaves my skin smooth and refreshed. I like this moisturizer and the fact that it has all these nutrients for benefiting the skin. I'll definitely have to use this more to see if it really benefits but other than that I'm enjoying this so far.

And finally the last item is the Formula X Nail Color in the shade Ignite.

Claims: Fire up the imagination this fall with this smoking red-hot nail polish. Formula X Ignite is a universally flattering shade delivered in a patented "No Compromise" formula for xtraordinary color, xceptional performance, and xtra long lasting shine. Infused with ShineXcel, a luminescent ingredient that enhances color and overall brilliance. Get polished and kindle a new flame with this hot and heavy hue. 3-free formulation. Patented "No Compromise" formula infused with ShineXcel for enhanced color and overall brilliance. Custom brush design engineered to complement the polish's highly pigmented formula with precise lacquer application.

I was so excited to receive this in my bag because I have been wanting to try out Formula X nail polishes for the longest time. I've heard nothing but rave reviews but I never got around to buying them. The shade that I received in my bag is Ignite and it is this beautiful dark red, perfect for the fall. I also think that this is part of Formula X's new Fall collection polishes.

Now for the formula of this nail polish. It went on like a dream. My goodness, with one coat the color was opaque, shiny, and just gorgeous. I truly love these shades for the Fall because it is just so classic and it makes my nails look polished without really having to try hard. I'm seriously in love with these polishes and I'm definitely going to be into buying more colors.

    1. Thanks for commenting! And I totally know what you mean! It would have been nice to have a more vampy option since the lp color does look like a light red against my skin tone :D
