Flower Beauty Cosmetics: Overview

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post! Today, I have an overview of a beauty brand to go in depth about today. And that beauty brand is Flower Beauty which is a brand made by Drew Barrymore. I was super intrigued by this makeup brand because not only is it named Flower Beauty and has beautiful flower names for many of its products, but its entire  premise is that it offers quality products at a drugstore price and its made in the USA.

Now Flower Beauty has been out for a while and I've had the products I'll be discussing for a while but I wanted to really utilize them before I give my opinion on the brand. To buy these products, Flower Beauty only sells at Walmart and I don't really have a Walmart easily accessible to me so I had to order online which to me is a downfall. So I tried to buy items that I knew I would be using often and based my decisions on how it looked on the website.

So if you want to learn what I think about the Flower Beauty brand and the cosmetics I bought, click on read more!

To kick off this overview, I'll start with the face products.

The first foundation I have here is the About Face Foundation. This is a glass bottle foundation with a pump. The packaging and font is sooooo cute!

Claims: Provides skin smoothing moisture, natural seamless coverage, smoothes imperfections and evens tones, has Vitamins C and E for anti-aging benefits, is fragrance free, and paraben free.

So the color I have here is LF13. Flower Beauty offers 14 different shades for this particular foundation. Considering that I'm the second shade away from the darkest, there aren't going to be any colors for skin tones two shades deeper than me. I just also want to add that I love the packaging of this entire Flower Beauty line. It looks so elegant and clean for a drugstore line. I also really like how simple it is.

So this is your classic liquid foundation. This foundation actually has a yellow undertone which is sometimes hard to find at the drugstore. I have a yellow undertone and this foundation matched me perfectly.

Here's what this liquid foundation looks like swatched. I have combination skin so there are days when I'm really dry and days where I'm extra oily. I like this foundation when I'm more dry. This isn't a matte finish and instead gives off a nice glow to the skin. I would not recommend this for oily skin people because of that glow. You'll look way too dewey. I do like this set this with the Powder Trip Powder Foundation and that combats any oiliness I have on my t-zone.

This liquid foundation is a medium to full coverage foundation but I would not suggest layering it on more than twice. It will look cakey just because the consistency to me is a little thick but it will apply on smoothly. This is also a long lasting foundation but you do have to touch up in any oily places.

Overall, I do like this foundation. Again, I would not suggest this for oily skin people but I think that dry skin or combination will appreciate the dewey finish. The price of this foundation is $13.98.

The next foundation that I have from this brand is the Perfect Canvas Creme Foundation. The shade that I have is CF3 or Shade 3. The funny story to how I acquired this creme foundation was that I mistook it for the powder foundation. I wasn't initially intrigued with this cream foundation at all and I was annoyed that I bought because now I didn't have a powder to go with my Flower Beauty liquid foundation. I actually had to go back to Walmart online and buy the powder foundation on its own. Lol and that's my little story on how I got this foundation otherwise I would have never gone overkill with these face products. Well anyways, here are the claims.

Claims: Ultra soft, creamy, and fluid. Great blendablity and color pureness. It features a tonic peach infusion which is rich in Vitamin C. It is oil free, paraben free, talc free, D5 free, and fragrance free.

The number of available shades in this foundation line is actually only four. I am the second to last darkest shade so the color range is not that great. The undertone for this foundation is actually gray. I really was not expecting this from looking at the shades online. The one pet peeve I have about this is that the website photos are totally deceiving. I'll express this more when we get to the lip colors.

Here is what the foundation looks like swatched on my arm. Against my skin tone you can see how grey and cool tone it looks. I decided that using a brush would be best to use with this product because of the texture. While it is a cream product, when blended into the skin, it finishes into a powder. It dries rather quickly so you'll have to blend really fast. This foundation also gives you medium coverage but you'll have to be careful because it can get cakey, especially around the nose. I would also suggest using a powder to set it because it does get oily throughout the day. Other than that, this foundation really stays on all day and fades away nicely.

Overall, this was a pleasant surprise as a foundation. I thought I would absolutely hate it but it is okay. It does the job for what a foundation should do but it's not my favorite. The price for this foundation is $12.98

And lastly for foundations is the Powder Trip Powder Foundation. The shade that I have is PP8. This is one of two powders that Flower Beauty offers in their line. The range on the website shows only four colors with PP4 being their darkest color. Considering that I bought PP8, Walmart may have more colors or they have discontinued the other colors of this line which is really strange.

Claims: Provides skin smoothing moisture, natural and seamless coverage, smoothes out imperfections and evens skin tone. Has vitamin C & E for anti-aging benefits. It is also fragrance free and paraben free.

And this is what the powder foundation looks like swatched. It matched pretty well to my skin tone as well to the About Face Foundation as a setting powder.

Since this is considered to be a foundation, the powder is actually pretty thick. But, it was easy to blend and it blends out to a nice smooth finish. This will definitely give you a matte finish and I love to use it on my t-zone, which is the place I get the most oily. The coverage of this powder is also pretty good. I would definitely say it gives a light to medium coverage but because it is pretty thick, I would avoid caking it on.

But overall, I really enjoy using this powder in combination with the About Face Foundation. It has perfect coverage for me and it really combats my oily t-zone. This powder is $9.98.

Moving on to the eyes products. I surprisingly did not buy much because I wanted to cut down on all the eyeshadow palettes and shadow quads I own (which is a futile effort because I still buy them...but I was kind of good this time!). The most intriguing of all the eye products were the Color Play Creme Shadows. I bought two shades, Awesome Blossom and Mum's The Word.

These eyeshadows have such an interesting texture and formula that it's almost a stretch to call them cream shadows. Their like mousse shadows and you can see that in the pictures below.

Claims: Enriched with Vitamin E for antioxidant protection, has long wearing formula, is water infused, has a weightless finish, and lid smoothing texture. Is buildable, has bendable coverage, and moves beautifully during application then sets without creasing. It is easily removed with makeup remover.

This Color Play Creme Shadow is Awesome Blossom. This is a rich deep brown with purple and pink undertones as well as shimmer. This shadow is my favorite out of the two and in my opinion super unique against my skin tone.

This shadow is called Mum's The Word. Mum's The Word is a beautiful baby pink with a bit of frost. The color is super refreshing on my skin tone and is pretty to pair with a soft brown matte crease color.

Here they are watched side by side with Mum's The Word on the left and Awesome Blossom on the right.

The packaging of these unique shadows are in a nice glass jar. The lids closes tightly so that the product doesn't dry out and I like that a lid topper was included even though it's not a loose shadow. It just seems more hygienic to me. And of course, the packaging correlates with the overall design of the brand, which I love.

I found the shadows to be bendable and super smooth to apply. Although it is a mousy cream texture, it does dry down to a beautiful shimmer shade. The shimmer on both of these aren't overwhelming at all. These eyeshadows are one of those that you can use alone and it just looks like you've created an effortless eye look.

I would suggest either using your fingers or a synthetic brush to apply these because it just goes on more pigmented than with a regular/natural hair brush. You will also have more time to blend these out before it sets and once this sets, the shadows down't budge or crease. For extra budge proof lids, I do use a primer underneath just because I know I have oily eyelid even though it's budge proof without it.

These are such easy eye shadows to use everyday and I really do enjoy them. The formula is definitely unique and I would not be opposed to trying out more shades from this line. The price of these Color Play Creme Shadows are $7.98.

For the lips portion of this brand, I got five lippies with two being from their Lip Suede Velvet Lip Chubby line, one from their Shine On Lip Gloss line, one from their Kiss Stick High-Shine Lip Color, and the last lippie from the Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color line. See where the bulk of my money went to? Hehehe.

The two lip shades that I have from the Lip Suede Velvet Lip Chubby line are Berry-more and Mauve-over.

Claims: Weightless lip color with a silky, satin-matte finish. Lips are instantly smoothed with a Papaya and Orchid Hydrating Complex. Intense color payoff with a velvet finish in a self-sharpening Chubby! No fragrance, Talc, D5, or Parabens.

The swatch on the left is Mauve-over and the swatch on the right is Berry-more.

Mauve-over has some mauve/purple undertones but it honestly pulls more pink on me. On the website it looked like a darker mauve pink so I was pretty disappointed with the shade.

Berry-more is a bright plum shade. Again, on the website it looked much darker, so I was expecting a deep plum shade. I was also disappointed in the shade and the misleading pictures online.

While the colors may be misleading, the formulation is actually one of my favorites. It has a velvety matte finish and it glides on the lips smoothly. It has no fragrance and it's not drying at all for a matte lip chubby. The wear time is pretty long, like a good five to six hours, unless I eat oily foods and it does transfer a little but not too much as long as you let it set on your lips.

My only problem is the shades and the misrepresentation of their swatches online. I cannot express how much I hate that. I would rather go in store but I've been to multiple Walmart's near me and I have not see the Flower Beauty Cosmetic line in the makeup aisle. They may have it now but even so Walmart is way too far for me to travel too. I love the products but hate the swatches of them online. You can buy these Lip Suede Velvet Lip Chubby's for $7.98.

The two lipsticks I got were Rose Bud from the Kiss Stick High-Shine Lip color and Dahlia Darling from the Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color collection.

The lipstick Rose Bud is from the Kiss Stick High Shine Lip color line.

Claims: Emollient oils improve shine for a rich, creamy application. Pure, intense color payoff. Extreme shine.

Rose Bud is a cool tone classic red.

And the second lipstick, Dahlia Darling, is from the Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color line.

Claims: Emollient oils improve shine for a rich, creamy application. Pure, intense color payoff.

Dahlia Dahling is this subtle fuchsia color that isn't bright and has red undertones. It's not exactly red and it's not exactly pink if that makes sense at all.

Here they are watched side by side with Dahlia Darling on the left and Rose Bud on the right. Don't they look really similar? Trust me, I thought I was getting two different shades based on pictures online, so I was disappointed in that. But, they are very gorgeous colors.

Rose Bud on the right is such a pigmented color. It is absolutely gorgeous and just so classic looking. This applied on really smoothly but I would definitely suggest using a lip liner because this gets everywhere if you're not careful. The first time I used this I was just smearing all over the place. Other than that I love the formula. It is really hydrating throughout the day and the shine is gorgeous. To keep this long lasting, I would say also blot after first application and then lightly reapply. It really helped me to prevent this lip from smearing all over my face. This also has a nice vanilla scent which reminded me a lot of the MAC lipsticks.

Now Dahlia Darling on the left is sheerer than Rose Bud but can be buildable to achieve its full pigmentation. I find that this is better for an everyday lipstick rather than the Kiss Stick High Shine Lip Colors. Their not as high maintenance but to me their a little more drying since it has no shine in it. It does dry to a nice velvet finish but I wouldn't say it's matte since it has some sheen to it. I can have this last on me for a good four to five hours with just little touch ups here and there. The scent of this lipstick is more a sour berry scent (LOL DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?!) but it's not as fragrant as Rose Bud.

Overall, I like both Kiss Stick lines. I think that these are great at a drugstore price but please fix the swatches online! You can buy these for $6.98.

The one gloss that I got from their Shine On Lip Gloss line is the color What A Dai-sy! Lol I mean, can you guess why I really got this gloss?

Claims: Creamy, rich, and smooth gloss. Pillow-like softness on lips. Medium buildable coverage.

I normally don't go for lip glosses just because I RARELY ever wear lip glosses but I saw the name and I just had to get it! I'm one of those weirdos who needs to buy something with their name on it just because at Disney they never had my name on any keychains or merchandise. I'm obsessed with anything Daisy and I have to get everything I love with daisies on it before the trend goes away!

The applicator of this lip gloss is the classic doe foot applicator and smells exactly like the Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Colors. What A Dai-sy! is also a gorgeous milky baby pink color. I wish I could have gotten a swatch of it but its so glossy that the camera just would not catch it. If I had to compare it to something the color of it is like the log gloss version of Kimchi Doll by Gerard Cosmetics. On me it looks super duper pale but I like to layer it on tope of something like a deeper pink. While it is sheer as a gloss like this should be, the milky baby pink color does come through. It's not an overly sticky gloss which I love but it is sticky enough that I know it'll stay on my lips.

Overall I like this gloss as just a center highlight on my lips. Alone, it's a bit too pale for me (aka dead looking lips) but paired with another lip product, I think it's great for a gloss. This lip gloss can be bought for $6.98.

And finally, the only cheek product that I got was the Glow Baby Glow Blush/Bronzer Duo in the color Beachy Keen.

Claims: Ultra-smooth pressed powder combines superlative wear, comfort and color purity. Smooth application and supreme blendability. Contour with bronzer and add color with blush.

I love blush and bronzer duos so I was super excited to purchase this one. Again I got the color Beachy Keen just because I thought it would match my skin tone the best. Did I mention how much I love the packaging of this entire beauty line? It's so simple and beautiful, I love it! It has a nice clear lid so that I can see what colors I'm using and I'm not deceived by it! And the lid is magnetized which is even better.

The bronzer side is a cool tone bronzer which I found was best for contouring. Like the claims said, the bronzer is super creamy and blendable. It is pigmented and a little really does go a long way. While it is a cool tone bronzer I find that I don't have to go into a different warmer bronzer because it's not too gray. I really like this bronzer.

As for the blush side, it is a beautiful salmon pink. I think that this suits well with the bronzer in this duo. This blush is just as creamy and blendable as the bronzer. The blush and the bronzer both have a staining effect to them which makes them really long lasting. I really like this blush and bronzer duo! This duo is $9.98.

And that is all that I bought from Flower Beauty Cosmetics line! My goodness I bought a lot of stuff but I was super excited to try them all out! I think that these are great beauty products for drugstore prices. I didn't really have a dud but the one thing I think you should go out and try are the Lip Suede Velvet Lip Chubby's. These are the ones I use the most out of the entire line.
