I am ridiculously late on these Ipsy bags but I figured I would combine them for double the Ipsy fun (and to save myself from having to make two separate blog posts #lazy)! I don't know if you guys actually enjoy these Ipsy posts but if you do leave a comment down below! I would so much appreciate it.
Let's first start with the February Ipsy bag. The theme of this bag is #IpsyLove. Very fitting for Valentine's Day and a month filled with love. As per usual, each bag comes with five beauty items. So let's check them out!
First up is the Cargo Cosmetics Lip Gloss. I have this in the shade Anguilla and it is this super creamy pale pink.
Claims: A new generation of Cargo's lip gloss. Its super high shine gloss delivers intense color payoff and locks in moisture to keep lips feeling hydrated. This long wearing lip gloss has a slick texture that feels creamy gliding over lips without being sticky. Ingredients such as Vitamin E and Jojoba Seed oil help increase lip moisture and decrease the appearance of furrows around the mouth while increasing lip volume to its maximum fullness.
Now when I say that is shade is a pale pink I mean its a super pastel pale almost white pink. Way too pink for my skin tone. Trust me, I was really set off when I received this product in my bag because I knew right away that it would just not suit me.
The formula on this lip gloss is a bit interesting though. It's not sticky but it is a bit thick. The finish is a creme and it applied on pretty smoothly. If this was a different color that suited to my skin tone I would like it a little more. I probably won't be using this lip gloss at all unless I try to mix it with another lip product.
The next product is the Hey Honey Take It Off! Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask.
Claims: This fifteen minute beauty mad brightens and smooths skin with the exfoliating power of Alpha Hydroxy Acids, while moisturizing with luxurious honey extract. It instantly renews skin, leaving it refreshed ad clean after only a few minutes. This gel mask helps promote a smooth and clear complexion for a post facial feeling. Take It Off! is quick and easy to use, so you can feel beautifully refreshed, radiant and ready to go in just a few minutes.
Peel off masks are super interesting because it's like peeling off Elmer's glue on your hands as a kid! And that's really my favorite part about getting this mask. But moving forward and more about the product, I don't really get excited about masks. I think they're gimmicky but in the nicest way possible. I'll still slap on the occasional mask but I'm not pining to do it.
This mask has a lot of claims that I don't think you can truly experience it with this small sample size. The first time I used this I ended up probably using up the entire bottle because I just felt like I needed more to cover my face. But it went on smoothly and it had a little bit of a scent but it wasn't overwhelming.
I waited for about ten minutes or until I saw that it was completely dry before I started to peel off the mask. It was easy to peel and I instantly felt my skin was refreshed. My face felt smoother and brighter. I liked the overall results. I wish that the sample was bigger so that I could try it out more to see all the results it claimed. But other than that, it was a pretty good mask.
After the mask is the 'Tini Beauty Eyeshadow by Rob Scheppy and is in the color Pearl Fizz.
Claims: The must have shimmering beige powder shadow from the palette designed for 'Tini Beauty by Hollywood makeup artist Rob Scheppy. Creative force behind Kim Kardashian's most memorable looks, Rob crafted Pearl Fizz as the perfect shade to highlight brown bones, add dimension to lids and illuminate the eyes.
This is a very pretty eyeshadow color and I was immediately inspired to use it in a cut crease, vintage type of eye look. But I had never heard of 'Tini Beauty until now and wasn't sure if the formulation of their shadows would be to my liking.
Once swatched I realized how absolutely smooth it was. This color is a nice creamy beige and was very pigmented. It went well on my lids and definitely had great staying power with a primer. I liked this shadow a lot and I would definitely be game for trying out other 'Tini Beauty products.
Next up is the Luxie Beauty Large Angled Face Brush 504.
Claims: The Luxie Rose Gold Large Angled Face Brush is a 100% Animal Cruelty Free brush with high quality synthetic hair bristles that are soft to the touch. With its Vegan makeup qualities from bristles to ferrule, this Rose gold brush is a must have in your makeup collection. Coated with a revolutionary antibacterial solution for minimal brush cleansing, your brush remains fresh and clean for longer periods of time. This density of the brush allows for an even application without any wasted product and does not absorb the product into bristles.
The moment that I saw that I received this brush in this Ipsy bag I fell in love. I honestly didn't care if the brush actually sucked because I'm such a sucker for the packaging. I mean look at it! It's pink with rose gold detailing. I love me some rose gold!
The bristles on the brush itself are super soft and its synthetic so it picks up product really well. The brush is not super dense too which I like because I like to use it to apply bronzer instead of using it for blush. With a light hand, it applies my bronzer so nicely and because it is angled my bronzer just overall looks a lot better.
And the last product from the February 2015 Ipsy bag is the ModelCo Blush Cheek Powder in the color Cosmopolitan.
Claims: ModelCo's Blush Cheek Powder creates a beaming, rosy glow to brighten every complexion. The micronized color pigments and luxurious, pressed powder delivers a sheer, natural radiance that lasts all day. Blush Cheek Powder's chic compact is easy to use and perfect for beauty touch ups on the go.
This blush is such a pretty cool tone baby pink color and in my opinion flatters tan skin really well. It isn't chalky at all and its super pigmented. The texture of this blush is pretty soft and is very build able. As for wear, it's okay. It will fade significantly by the end of the day so it's definitely not long lasting.
I do like the compact that this blush comes in because it is small enough to make it travel friendly. And since it's not long lasting, it's great to bring a long for touchups.
And that is all that I got in my February Ipsy bag. Let me know what you got for February and tell me what you did or did not like. I'd love to know!
Now let's move on to my March Ipsy bag (ugh I feel so bad that this is such a long post!)
The first item from this March 2015 Ipsy bag is the NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick in the shade Little Susie.
Claims: Pamper your lips with a hydrating kiss of smooth Butter Lipstick in 22 luxurious shades. The delicate texture of satin fused with the high color saturation creates an even finish on lips that's long wearing and beautiful.
I already have some butter lipsticks from NYX and you can read my first impressions/haul on them in this blog post > A Mini NYX Cosmetics Haul
My thoughts in that blog post is pretty much how I feel about the NYX butter lipsticks currently. It's such a creamy and comfortable formula that I would love to buy all the shades if only they all suit to my skin tone.
Now Little Susie is a bright coral pink and looks super neon on my lips. It definitely doesn't fatter my skin tone in my opinion but if I use a light hand and wear it sheerly on my lips, it looks like a nice juicy plump color. I would have definitely preferred the other options for this lipstick in my bag but Little Susie is definitely something I can continue to use and try out with since I love the NYX butter lipsticks so much.
The second product is the Acure Day Cream.
Claims: Face the day with Gotu Kola Stem Cells, shown to firm and help your skin fight environmental damage and free radicals, and Chlorella Growth Factor, shown to support collagen and elastin fibers. This powerhouse combo helps fight off the signs of aging with a one two punch. Easily Absorbed Moisture + Cell = Great Day!
I was super glad to get this in my bag for this month because I had been needing a new day cream for a while now. And when I read the claims, it looked super promising.
The consistency of the cream is thick but it applies on lightly and cooly on the skin. It was easy to apply on the skin and a little bit of this product does go a long way. I first noticed that this day cream has a scent to it. It smells like oranges and I actually like how refreshing it smell. If you don't like the scent of oranges than you probably won't like this cream but the smell doesn't last long on the skin.
What I don't like about this is that it dries a bit tacky and it doesn't feel too moisturizing in contrast to if it were a little more water based. Now I haven't used this long enough to see the results that it claims but I'll continue to try it out. If you want to know how this product does for a longer period of time, let me know!
Next in this bag is the Boo-Boo Cover Up in the shade Medium.
Claims: Have a Boo-Boo? Skip the bandage and the shiny ointment. Look your best even while you heal with Boo-Boo Cover Up for face and body. Our innovative formula offers great coverage for skin imperfections while containing ingredients known in nature to promote healing.
Isn't the packaging to this concealer super cute?! It's like a mini paint tube and I love anything mini lol. And I also like that it's in a squeeze tube because it lets me have control of how much product I want and it's a bit more hygienic than sticking my finger in a jar.
The shade that I got in this concealer is in medium but it is a bit light on me even in my winter skin tone color. So instead of using to it to cover up any imperfections, I use it instead to brighten up my under eye. It layers on well and doesn't look cakey over the actually concealer for my under eye and I like how brightening it looks.
The consistency is a bit drying so I prefer to use my fingers to blend and warm up the product really well. It also wears well throughout the day but I would suggest setting the concealer so that it lasts all day without looking dry. Overall, a great concealer for under my eyes.
The next item in the bag and one that I find super interesting is the skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels.
Claims: When you're run down and stressed out, the delicate skin under your eyes really takes a beating, resulting in puffiness, dark circles and premature wrinkling. In just ten minutes, this cool transdermal gel patch infuses the eye area with highly potent actives and Icelandic glacial water to firm, tone, brighten and reduce the appearance of puffiness and wrinkles. Eyes are revived, soothed and rejuvenated.
So honestly...I'm not a big facial mask person. I don't get as excited doing or buying a mask as much as I do with makeup. I'm pretty sure I've seen Michelle Phan use these eye gels before in a video or past tutorial but I was never really intrigued. They just seem super gimmicky to me. So when I saw that I got this in my bag I was actually excited because this is a product I would never just buy on my own and try.
These eye gels have a lot of claims so I was expecting great things with them. When I first peeled the eye gel off the packaging and placed it on my skin, it just felt super cool and refreshing under my eyes. I love when products make me feel cool and refreshed.
I left the eye gels on my face for ten minutes and when I peeled it off, my skin underneath my eyes looked brighter and felt smoother. I rubbed in any of the remaining product into my skin and waited for it to dry. I don't have horrible dark circles or wrinkles but the skin looked better after the eye gels. I'm glad I tried this out but I'm not sure if I really see any significant results in just ten minutes. I'll definitely use the other pack during a much need pampering day but I won't write this off yet.
And lastly is the Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in Fifty Shades.
Claims: Marsk Mineral Eyeshadows are 100% natural, mineral based loose powder that are strictly cruelty free and available in a range of striking shades that offer endless color possibilities for a professional makeup effect. Featuring a creamy texture, these highly pigmented powders can be used both wet and dry, are easily bendable and offer you the ability to create depth and intensity around the eye.
I don't really like using loose eyeshadow often because it's just so messy but I couldn't help but love the little packaging this shadow came in. Again, I love things that come in mini form and this is like in a mini jar and it's just so cute to me.
The color that I have this in is in the shade Fifty Shades (haha cute) and it is a glittery gray/steel color. It is a very pigmented color but it applies on patchy if I use a brush. I would rather use this with a synthetic brush or with my fingers because that's how I can get the most pigmentation from it.
What I found out when I wore it throughout the day that the color fades significantly even if I put an eyeshadow primer underneath. It actually doesn't fade well on me and it creases up on my lids. I don't ever really reapply eyeshadow throughout the dar but I did with this one and if you do reapply, it won't look like it was caked up.
I think that the next time that I try to wear this color I'll try using a base that's the same as its color. Not sure but let me know how you get these shadows to last if you got this in your Ipsy bag. I really like the color but it just keeps creasing!
And that is it for the two Ipsy bags that I got for February and March. Once again I am so sorry for being ridiculously inconsistent with the blog and not posting as much. I'm a busy student (who really just watches Netflix all day...lol jk!) but summer is coming up so I hope to expand this blog more. But I hope you all enjoy these Ipsy posts and leave me a comment down below on what you got in your Ipsy bags for February and March. Thanks for reading!
