Hello all and welcome bag to an Ipsy blog post! This month I have the January 2016 Ipsy glam bag and the theme is All Eyes On You. The bag for this month is just so cute! I love the retro theme/Andy Warhol theme and I love the colors.
As usual, there are five beauty items that you can receive based on a quiz that you take to determine what type of products you could like to try. If you want to find out what I got this month then please click on read more!
The first item that I have here is the theBalm Cosmetics Mr. Write (Now) Eyeliner in the shade Jack B. Bronze.
Claims: We have a Mr. Write (Now) for every day of the week...and then some! Meet this new collection of attractive eyeliners that are truly easy on the eyes. These pencils deliver the long-lasting color you've been looking for, and have built-in sharpeners so they are always ready when you are. With high payoff, eight wearable shades, and a satin smooth texture, we understand why your eyes wander- but rest assured, your eyeliner won't! Long-lasting color with rich payoff. Smooth texture. Built in sharpener.
This eyeliner by the Balm is something that I've never tried before and completely out of my comfort zone. I'm a black liquid liner kind of girl all the way so I was a little disappointed to receive a liner that wasn't black. But of course being the makeup enthusiast that I am, it doesn't hurt to try new things.
Here's what the liner looks like swatched. The color that I received was Jack B. Bronze and it is a beautiful dark brown with bronze flecks of glitter. The swatch is really pigmented but what I found is that you have to warm up pencil to really get that pigment. I like that the pencil is a twist up pencil and really easy to use.
I tried this liner first on my lower lash line and I found that it was really pretty. Again, if you don't warm this up it will give a little tug on the skin. But once warmed up it was creamy. The liner lasted for a long time before I saw any significant smudging which was great. The second time that I tried this liner was on my eyelids. I was able to make a precise wing and again it was pigmented. It stayed on a lot better on my lids then on my lash line. I have yet to try this on my waterline just because I don't normally put liner in the water liner so I don't know if it'll be long lasting there.
I like this liner but I think I'll use it as a base instead just because I'm not really into color liner but it's pretty good.
Next up is the Hikari Cosmetics Cream Metallic Pigment Shadow in the color Mink.
Claims: Bring elegance to your fingertips with this cream-to-powder eyeshadow. The color is highly pigmented and stays true to color all day long. It has a super lightweight feel and goes on extra smooth.
This was the most exciting product to me in this bag. I looooooove eyeshadow! This is an interesting eyeshadow pigment in which it was cream to powder finish. The picture above makes the shadow look really rose gold but it is more bronze with a hint of pink.
Here's what the shadow looks like swatched. It really looks like a bronze with a hint of pink. I actually love the formula of this shadow. It's super pigmented and it went on nicely on the lids. It's such a pretty color and I liked that it dried down to a powder because it was easier to work and blend with. I really really like this shadow and the lasting power is good as well. It doesn't crease on me and it's on all day.
I'd honestly be interested in trying out more eyeshadows from Hikari Cosmetics...especially if it's in palette form ;).
The third item that I received is the Beau Gachis Paris Smudge Brush.
Claims: This Beau Gachis Paris Smudge Brush is ideal for creating that soft, smoldering smoky look. The shorter bristles allow this brush to pick up the right amount of shadow, allowing you to control how much you want to apply. Excellent for blending colors or smudging out felt or other liners. Eco-friendly matte black wooden handle as used by professionals. Assembled by hand for exceptional quality.
I love love love getting brushes from Ipsy because they choose from brands that I've never heard of. This Beau Gachis Paris smudge brush felt really soft and firm. Personally I saw this brush and didn't see it as that. I've been using it more as a crease brush especially for doing cut crease looks (my favorite eye look).
This brush is really nice and packs on the shadow well. It's great for blending out my crease and I've been really enjoying it. I also really love the weight and design of the brush. It's very classic and sleek looking. I would totally buy a set of these brushes anytime.
The next product is the Lasting Smiles Lip Balm in Peppermint Creme.
Claims: Nourish your lips, Nurture the world! Lasting Smiles lip balms are organic and fairtrade certified with pure and moisturizing ingredients sourced from small scale global farming cooperatives. Add a bit of freshness to your lips with natural peppermint oil and a dollop of vanilla creme for a smooth finish. With coconut oil, shea, and cocoa butter for soft hydrated and healthy lips.
This lip balm has easily become my favorite lip balm ever. It is super minty and really moisturizing on my lips. Even if I don't feel like I have dry lips I just like to apply more on just because of how nice it feels. I also like that it's made from organic ingredients and is linked to a charity.
When you buy a Lasting Smiles Lip Balm they donate to the Smile for a Cause foundation which helps to fund cleft surgeries for children. I mean how amazing is that?! I'm definitely going to get my hands on more of these lip balms when I run out!
And the last beauty item in this bag is the Hey Honey Skincare Open Your Eyes Eye Contour Lifting Fluid.
Claims: Wake up your eyes and minimize the appearance of fine lines in an instant with super light firming gel. Open Your Eyes is designed to reduce puffiness, hydrate and tighten the skin around the yes upon application for a visibly lifted effect. Fast-absorbing firming fluid provides immediate lifting effect and ongoing treatment. Moisturizes and soothes with natural extracts of Honey, Mallow and Green Tea. Any makeup of supplementary day or night care may be applied on top.
This is definitely a confusing product from Hey Honey. This is a eye contour lifting fluid that is sort of supposed to be an eye cream but in gel form. I've liked Hey Honey skincare before and I've never heard of a product like this.
The consistency of this product is gel and is very smooth when I put it on my under eyes. It felt nice, cold, and refreshing. I definitely felt it hydrate and moisturize my skin. It did reduce the puffiness but I don't know it tightening my skin. Overall I do like this as an under eye cream but I wouldn't go far to say that it "contours" my under eyes.
And that is all that I received in my bag! So far I've been liking what I've been receiving in my Ipsy bags. Please leave me a comment down below on what you got in your Ipsy bag or if you received any of the products mentioned above. Also, please follow me on all my social media links on the right and I'll do the same. See you all in the next blog post!
