Hello beauties and welcome to another month of Ipsy! Haha I know it's October and I'm super late talking about my September Ipsy Glam Bag but I have a good reason. School kills all my free time. I have written so many essays these past few weeks that I was just tired of writing. But I was staring at my Ipsy bag and I was just like girl, you need to just get it over and done with because I've been enjoying the products I received in this bag.
The theme of Ipsy for the month of September is Street Style. The bag came in a metallic silver pouch with gun metal colored spikes lining the top. It's a very simple bag which I really appreciate. The bag came with five beauty items as per usual and I'm pretty happy with what I got for this month.
So let's get into this bag!
The first item is the Hikari Lipstick in Cabernet.
Claims: Amp up the color with Hikari's richly colored lip stick. The high pigmented formula glides on smoothly with a matte finish. Layer this formula to build color for a perfectly enchanted pout.
I hate starting out negative in a blog post but I ended up giving this lipstick away to a friend. It wasn't anything but simply the color just did not go well with my skin tone. The formula of the lipstick was very smooth and the color went on my lips very opaquely. I just truly hated the color on me. Although it says that this lipstick is a matte, it had a metallic sheen to it that I just didn't like for me.
My friend on the other hand is really enjoying this lipstick. Compared to me, the color suits her very well. She has a much paler skin tone than I and the red doesn't have too much of a metallic sheen as it does with mine. Cabernet looks way better on her!
Next up is the Pacific Natural Water Proof Eye Pencil in Gun Metal.
Claims: These rich water-proof, buttery smooth eye pencils glide on smooth and deliver big color pay off with every stroke. Long-lasting natural formula, provides hours of wear and contains beneficial ingredients great for the sensitive eye area. Formulated without: Animal ingredients (including carmine, beeswax and lanolin), animal testing, FD&C colors, mineral oil, parabens, phthalates, petroleum, propylene glycol, SLS, gluten, peanut oil and other ingredients you don’t want on your skin!
I personally only use black liner on my lids and I'm never adventurous when it comes to trying out different liner colors. Since this was in my bag I thought I'd give it a go.
I found the formula to be really silky and smooth. I didn't feel any tugging and when I put it on it went on opaquely. I tried this liner both on my water line and on my eyelids and I do like the color, it's a beautiful gunmetal silver with a bit of sparkle.
The wear of this liner is supposed to be waterproof and it did wear well throughout the day. Liner doesn't really stay put on my waterline but it was pretty decent. I didn't see any smudging at all but it was almost gone at the end of the day. On my lids, the liner stayed on really well. It didn't smudge and it was still prominent on my lids at the end of the day.
Overall I do like this Pacifica liner but I probably won't be using it as much unless it was a black liner.
The third item that was in my bag was the Be A Bombshell Smooth Criminal Powder. I have never tried any Be A Bombshell products so this was super exciting to get in the bag.
Claims: This lightweight, ultra fine, silky formula softens the appearance of imperfections, fine lines, and pores while leaving you with a beautiful glow. This finishing powder can be worn alone or to set your foundation. The translucent formula works for all skin tones. It is made from 100% silica and leaves your skin with a matte finish without drying it out.
This product came in a nice size sample at 4 grams and I have been absolutely loving this powder. I don't normally like loose and translucent powders because I hate the mess and I get super paranoid if I look white in pictures. But I really like this particular one and I'm willing to make it work.
The powder applies on smoothly and evenly. It makes my skin feel super smooth and I can't help but touch my face throughout the day just to feel how extremely smooth it is (how many times can I say smooth for this product). I usually use this to set my foundation and I can see a great difference with my pores and any lines I have. My skin looks really even and doesn't make my face cake up in any way.
I have yet to see if this is camera friendly but I am absolutely loving this powder. I may even buy a full size one...we shall see. But, please leave a comment down below if you know if this powder is camera friendly. Hehe, I'm just too lazy to see for myself :)
The next item up is the Beauty Without Cruelty Sweet Lavender Hand & Body Lotion. This is my first body care item I have received from Ipsy and I was so excited about it that I've already finished the entire bottle, all 2.4 ounces of it (insert blushing emoji here).
Claims: Beauty Without Cruelty Sweet Lavender Hand & Body Lotion moisturizes, softens, and protects your skin -- the perfect all over body treatment for youthful skin. Feature's nature's rich emollients shea butter, jojoba, and kukui nut oil, combined with aloe vera to smooth and replenish skin. Plus, this special botanical formula features pure premium aroma therapeutic Sweet Lavender essential oil for supple, rejuvenated skin -- the ultimate in natural skin care.
I absolutely love the scent of this lotion. It reminds me so much the Burt's Bees hand salve which I still have and love. I love the lavender lemon scent and it just smells so fresh and clean.
This lotion isn't greasy at all and I love the way it seeps into my skin. I sincerely enjoyed every last bit of it and I have nothing negative to say. It made my skin so soft and hydrated and now I'm sad I don't have it.
And the last item, well items in the bag is the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Duo. This duo came with the Top Coat and the color Pretty Piggy.
Claims: OMGEL! At last! Gel without the light! NEW Sally Hansen Miracle Gel gives your nails up to 14 days of color & shine with this 2 step Gel manicure -- no light needed. Over 25 shades that wow! Removes like regular nail polish.
When I first saw this in the bag I thought, well that color doesn't look street style at all. I was expecting maybe a black, blue, silver, or red look. The color I have is Pretty Piggy and it is more of a bright coral color. I was excited to sample this nail polish because this is still pretty new in the Sally Hansen brand. I heard great things especially from itsjudytime and getting a gel manicure at the salon is pricey!
So when I first tried out the polish I was happy to find that it applied on well and evenly. The color was how it was depicted on the bottle and it looked good. I put the top coat on after the colored polish dried and my nails dried pretty fast.
I monitored my nails the following week after application and was sad to find that they did chip after day 3. I don't know what I do with my hands but nail polishes are always chipping on me. I thought this gel polish would do the trick but...I guess not. 14 days?! It didn't even last 3! For $10 at regular price, I'm not sure if it's worth to try out more colors.
So that is the end of my September Ipsy Glam Bag post! Overall, I liked my bag for this month and it hit right on to what I like in beauty but the color choices for the lipstick and nail polish just wasn't for me. What items did you get in your Glam bag? And, did you like them? Please leave a comment down below and subscribe to the blog! Thank you!
