Daisy's July Favorites 2013

It is the end of June and of course I have my July favorites! July was an amazing month because we (Jalisa and I plus family and friends) went on a cruise vacation to the Bahamas! Technically it was during the last week of June but the vacation went on to the first week of July because we went to Orlando and I finally got to visit Universal Studios and Islands Of Adventure! Anyways, all that fun stuff will be in the Consenescere section of our blog very soon. After our vacation week, I've just been getting over my crazy tan and rediscovering some old but good makeup products. I've also been watching new shows, listening to good music, and loving youtubers.  So let's get on to my favorites.

Let's start with my beauty favorites of this month.

1. First off is my favorite lip combo that I have been wearing constantly this month. The lipstick presented is the Maybelline's 14 Hour Wear Lipstick in 'Beige For Good' and next to it is L'oreal's Lipgloss in 'Plum'. It really is the perfect pinky nude combination for my lipcolor. When I first bought the Maybelline lipstick, I absolutely hated it. I looked like a zombie...actually much worse than that I looked like I had no lips at all. So I casted it off as a dud. But then a month or two ago I decided to start using up my makeup products diligently and decided to use up the ones I didn't particularly like. So naturally the lipstick came up. I then moved on in looking at my glosses to see if maybe it'll perk up the color and I found the L'oreal lipgloss in my collection. It looks like a very rich purple color but it applies sheerly with a purple tint. These two mixed together is gorgeous. I love the way it looks on my lips and I can easily wear it with any makeup look no matter what day.

2. The next product I have is the Cargo Blu Ray Powder and I'm in the shade 40, which I believe is the darkest color in their line. It looks extremely dark and orange against my skin but I only ever use it when I have a tan, which I have right now. A lot of my foundations are much lighter than I am right now so I use the powder as a sort of bronzer. I don't use it to contour rather I use it to deepen the areas of my face where the sun naturally hits, like my forehead, cheeks, and around my jawline. It fixes my foundation color perfectly. I also love the quality of the powder but mind you it is highend. But the powder is so smooth and blends in so nicely on the skin, that it is worth it to buy again. I also can use it without foundation if I wanted to because I can build up the powder to any type of coverage I want.

3. Moving onward, I have a primer to spotlight on and it is the Smashbox Photofinish Foundation Primer. I have a bunch of little sample sizes of different version of the Smashbox primer but my favorite is the oil free one. This primer makes my makeup stay on all day and now that I've been using it all this month, I feel that my makeup routine can't live without a primer. I sincerely suggest it. It changes worlds ;)

4. Now this bad boy is such a surprise for me this month. It is the Essence Liquid Eyeliner in Black. For such a small product it really makes a statement. The formula is waterproof and it just glides on so beautifully. I've only recently purchased it but I feel like I've used it enough to fall in love with it. The applicator is felt tip which I really like. The only downside to this is that you have to wait a couple of seconds for the liner to dry. It applies very wet so avoid blinking too hard or else you'll mark your upper lid. I really don't mind this but sometimes if I'm on the go it is a nuisance. Once it dries though, the liner stays on all day. The first time I used it was a day of a lot of sweating and I remember looking at a mirror at the end of the day and admiring my liner because it looked like I had just applied it. The liner just doesn't budge and it only costs under $4 which is such an amazing deal! I definitely recommend this to anyone.

5. Next up is this Wet N' Wild 6 Pan Palette in 'Greed'. This is an oldie but a goodie product. Now this isn't the best of the Wet N' Wild 6 Pan Palette's, it's actually my least favorite but I've rediscovered it with a positive retrospect by only using the three matte colors which are a black, a salmon peach, and a cream color with a slight pink undertone. I use the cream color as a highlight, the salmon peach color as an all over lid color when I'm too lazy, and the black for sealing in my eyeliner. I have a three step process when it comes to eyeliner that's bulletproof to me but I'll talk about it another time. Anyways I love the matte colors on this palette and I'm glad to have rediscovered it this month.

6. Horray for favorite mascaras! And that mascara is the Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express Mascara in Very Black. Now I normally don't really use mascaras or really liked them because I wear glasses and whenever I blink my lashes would scrape against the lens and then leave black streaks all over the place. So...I hated wearing mascara and didn't bother having it in my makeup routine. I only EVER used mascara during special occasions and I only liked fast drying mascaras. But then I had the realization that mascara DOES make a difference in your makeup look. It just makes your eye makeup look really well put together and my small eyes bigger. Since I had so many mascaras that I barely used, I decided to randomly pick one to try out and use up. I heard some good and bad things about the Mega Plush Mascara and when I bought it I used it once because of my negative mindset about mascaras and never thought much about it. I decided to give it a try and I LOVE IT! It reminded me of a mascara I really like back in the day (a Rimmel one?) that was equally fast drying and gave good volume to my lashes. I already have long lashes so I don't ever look for length in a mascara but I want volume and this mascara definitely gave it. It also held a really nice curl without me having to curl my lashes with a curling wand so I was super impressed by that.

7. Lastly for my beauty favorites of the month is the Wet N' Wild Fergie Collection To Reflect Shimmer Palette in 'A044 Rose Golden Goddess'. This shimmer palette actually isn't an eyeshadow palette rather it is a baked highlighter/blush. The color is a beautiful peachy coppery brown with swirls of gold in it. When applied to the skin it just gives an amazing highlight. I think this is better for medium to darker skintones like myself because it adds a nice sheen to the skin without looking like you just put white glittery eyeshadow all over. You can use this product wet or dry but I prefer it dry just for a highlight. I could use it as a blush, it is pigmented and can be built up, but I feel it's too glittery for that. When wet you can get a nice metallic finish, comparable to a pigment, and it would look great as an eyeshadow. But what I use it for is mainly as a highlight and it's just perfect for my skin tone. There's also a lot of product in it so it'll last a really long time which is always an A+ for me.

Well that's all for my beauty favorites this month. Now moving on to my non beauty favorites:

8. First up is the Macadamia Healing Oil Spray. My hair is a disaster zone, dry, untameable, frizzy, and full of split ends. I know I'm to blame is all this because I just don't really know how to take care of my hair. I thought that if you use shampoo and conditioner, you're good for life. BUT NO, there are many precautions in keeping your hair healthy. So I've started on the healthier hair way of life and in my journey I found the healing oil spray. At first, I didn't get it. Spray? No, more like really liquidy. You have to "spray" it into your hands and rub it in your hair. It smells really good though and I actually enjoy rubbing it in to the ends of my hair. With this product I don't see fast results but overtime I can tell that my split ends have lessened and the dry hairs feel softer. This isn't a product that you can use once in a while to see results. You have to use every time you wash your hair.

Here comes some unpictured favorites:

9. This time around for my favorites I decided to just list the songs that I have been loving for this month or else this post would be ridiculously long.

Daisy's Jams Of The Month
Just Give Me A Reason - Pink ft Nate Ruess of Fun
Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke ft T.I. & Pharrell
We Can't Stop - Miley Cyrus

One song is slightly old and the others I think just came out this month. Anyways I've been hearing these songs all this month on the radio so naturally it's all been in my head. Check out the music videos of these songs on youtube!

10. I'm continuing on my love for television shows and dramas and this month I have been in love with two T.V. Shows. The first is Parks & Recreation. Jalisa actually suggested this to me and it's another mockumentary type series like The Office was. I didn't think I was going to fall in love with Parks & Recreation but oh my gosh I did so much! Amy Poehler stars as Leslie Knope, a government employee who works in the parks department of Pawnee Indiana. She's quirky, smart, determined, and loves the law. The situations she gets into and the way she handles things is what really made this show amazing. I love the cast as well and all the other character's stories that add on. And when Chris Traeger was introduced in the later seasons I could not stop saying "LITRALLY!". -SPOLER ALERT-Also, my favorite couple on this show has to be Ben and Leslie. The character of Ben Wyatt comes in with Chris Traeger in season two and it's amazing to see how Ben falls in love with Leslie and their amazing chemistry. Adam Scott plays Ben Wyatt and I honestly love him in every show and movie he's been in. He's such a great actor and him and Amy have such great chemistry. I squeal every time they come on screen or do something adorably cute. And when they finally get married, my gosh I was in tears and the romance was just tugging at my heart. -END SPOILER ALERT-  This show is super funny as well and had me laughing out loud all the time. If you like comedy with a bit of romance and drama here and there, Parks & Recreation is the show for you.

11. The next T.V. show I have been loving has been Downton Abbey. I love any sort of period dramas or movies and if anyone knows me in real life know that I am obsessed with Jane Austen books and the 2005 movie remake Pride & Prejudice. I am a sucker for women in long beautiful dresses and men looking very dapper in suits and tie (sexy!). I love the hair, the makeup, the oh so proper language, and the accents. Whenever I watch any show or movie with people who have accents, I end up adopting that accent and putting it in my everyday speech. It's funny because I'll be talking to my sister and she would be like, "Wow your Irish accent isn't that bad" and I'd be like dot dot dot I wasn't speaking in an Irish accent but it just happens. Anyways, Downton Abbey is about an aristocratic family called the Crawleys and their servants and follows their lives as events of the beginning of the 20th century unfolds around them. I had heard so many great things about Downton Abbey and there was a time I called it Downtown Abbey before being corrected, and I thought I would give it a try. Each season has 8 episodes with 1 special episode and there has only been three seasons so far. It's an hour long and I love every minute of it. I love the contrast between the servants and the family and has they intertwine. There is drama everywhere and twists that just make me gape at the screen. I cried, I laughed, I yelled ( a lot!!) and have fallen in love with the characters. It's so proper that sometimes I feel like I live such a cheap life but hey it was different times back then. I would definitely recommend this drama to anyone that just enjoys a nice British period television show and can appreciate the culture of their times.

12.I have three youtubers that I have been loving for this month. From top to bottom are kurthugoschneider, Grissle, and doyouyoga.com. If you don't know who kurthugoschneider is by now than bless your soul. He is an amazing musician who does amazing covers with other amazing artists. His videos are always so creative and just perfect. The people who sing the covers are just...whoa. I've been just listening to all his covers on youtube this month enough to love their version better than the original. The next youtuber that I have been loving is Grissle which I pronounce as grizzly from grizzly bear but replacing the ly with lay, overexaggerately. Anyways, he does reaction videos of k-pop videos and lately I've been enjoying any type of k-pop reaction videos on youtube. He's just so funny and I like his 'breakdowns' on each video he reacts to, which are always honest. The last youtuber on my favorites has been doyouyoga.com. My friend has gotten into yoga lately and persuaded me to buy myself a yoga mat. I've loved yoga for as long as I can remember but never felt the need for a mat because I had carpet but it makes sense to have one. Anyways, she showed me this youtuber and the 30 Day Challenge she's been doing. Erin Mortz is a great yoga instructor and I find her very easy to follow. Her challenges are only about twenty minutes long, which is perfect to do in the morning, and I do feel that my body is reaping from the benefits of yoga. I can't wait to continue on with the challenge. So check these youtubers out if you enjoy any of the things I love about them.

And that is the conclusion of my July 2013 favorites! If you like anything that I have been loving for this month than please leave a comment down below. I'd love to know what you think! Thank you so much :)
