Catching Up! July & August 2015 Ipsy Glam Bags

Yes I know, I'm horrible at keeping up with my Ipsy bags, but I've just been in such a rut with the blog! I've been trying to get out of the rut but nothing gives me inspiration. So I decided that I might as well try to get out of the rut by starting with the Ipsy bags. Now before the September bag comes along and I'm even more late, let's talk about the July and August Ipsy bags!

First up is the July bag. The theme for July was Summer Lovin' and the bag really embodied what I feel summer is. The bag has this unique zig zag print with such bright and fun colors. I think it's such a cute bag. The material is also soft.

As for the August bag, the theme was Prep School. The bag's design is this awesome houndstooth pattern and has pink detailing. It is super cute and the material is actually a plastic one. It seems more durable than the soft material of the July bag. This bag is really perfect for that back to school theme.

As always, there are five beauty items in each bag that you can receive based on your answers on their beauty quiz. So if you want to know what I got in my bag for July (and August) please click on the read more!

The first item in my July Ipsy bag is the Nicka K New York HQ Quad Eyeshadow

Claims: Experience radiant color and exceptional wear with the new HQ Quad Eyeshadows. Available in expertly curated, complementary color combinations, each quad  features shades optimal for highlighting, contouring, and defining the eyes. They boast an incredible formula with buttery smooth pigmentation, that seamlessly applies and blends. Long lasting wear without creasing or fading. Vibrant and richly pigmented formula. Smoothly applies and blends with minimal fallout. Luxe, rust-resistant, faux metal finish outer with large color preview window. Each quad is designed to seamlessly create both dramatic and neutral eye looks.

How pretty is the packaging of this quad? I mean definitely one of my favorites and it clicks shut rather it being magnetic, which I like very much.

When I first saw the colors of this quad, I was actually disappointed because I could honestly only seeing myself really using one of the eyeshadow colors. But I think that for the combination, this quad is really pretty for the summer time. It has a beautiful blue, light yellow, a frosty cream, and a gorgeous copper. When swatching these, I could tell they were a little rough, not as creamy but they were all pigmented. It just gave a bit of a tug.

Here's what they all look like swatched. Super pretty right? The copper is my favorite shade in this quad. Because these shadows gave a bit of a tug when used dry, I found that using them wet is just perfect. With a great eyeshadow primer as well, they'll last all day. Overall I like it!

The second item is the Essie Nail Polish in Fashion Playground.

Claims: Fun and games just met their match. This Nail Polish in 'Fashion Playground' is a plucky pistachio green with subtle shimmer. It flirts with forever and plays for keeps.

I have plenty of Essie polishes, enough to know that it is one my favorite nail polish brand at the drugstore. While Essie does have its hits and misses when it comes to their formula, I found that Fashion Playground was a success.

Fashion Playground is described as a "plucky pistachio green with subtle shimmer". At first glance it really does look like a cream mint but on the nails it is exactly as it was described. It did take about two coats to get a good opaque color but that's what I normally do with all my other polishes so I was fine with that.

I've been wearing this color all summer and even on my toes! So this was definitely a huge win for me. Thanks Essie!

Next up is the Coolway Beachy Salt Spray.

Claims: Perfect for creating beauty waves and natural styles with a non-sticky, matte finished look. Formulated with Dead Sea salts for addition mineral nourishment. Texturizes and separates hair for a natural, fresh-from-the-beach look. Weightless formula for bouncy, flexible, wavy hair. Mineral-rich formula consisting of Dead Sea Salt for soothing and strengthening of the scalp and hair.

Honestly, I never know how I feel about beach sprays just because it seems so gimmicky to me. It looks good when all the other beauty gurus use it on their hair but I'be had my fair share of sea salt sprays and they just don't work with my hair. Which is why I was disappointed when I saw that I got this in my bag. But of course I'm willing to try any beauty product and this was no exception!

Another product I have here is the Be A Bombshell Cosmetics and in the color Ruby.

Claims: Hydrating formula to leave lips feeling silky smooth with a hint of color.

I love getting lip balm because I have such dry lips and honestly buying lip balm all the time sucks aka I'm just lazy. I also like when a lip balm has a tint to it just for those days where I don't want to wear lipstick but I still want to feel pretty wearing a lip balm.

This balm gives off a light red tint and it is super moisturizing. I love to put it on over any drying red liquid lipsticks that I have or even under them. Also, after my shower it has been my go to balm. I honestly love it! It has a waxy texture but it applies on smoothly. It's not too overwhelming that I feel like I have butter on my lips which makes it comfortable. I love it a lot!

And the final item in my July Ipsy bag is the Vasanti Cosmetics Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser.

Claims: Rev up your skin with this powerful exfoliating treatment that's packed with the natural ingredients necessary to get a bright, sexy glow. The best part? One step and you're done! You'll see smoother, brighter skin as soon as you rinse. 100% paraben free. 100% vegan. Not tested on animals.

I haven't really been interested in skincare products lately. It's honestly been so far from my mind so when I got this I was pretty disappointed. It just doesn't interest me! But for the sake of the blog, I had to try it.

The claims of this cleanser is actually what got me to not feel so "meh" about it. I mean a "bright, sexy glow" who doesn't want that?! So when I used this for the first time I was expecting a lot. The formula of this cleanser has little micro exfoliating beads which felt nice on my face. I would suggest using this cleanser in the morning because this did wake me up. Also, a little goes a long way!

This went on nicely on the skin and the scent was just a clean smell. After I washed this off my face I did feel fresher and cleaner. Now I don't know if I was necessarily brighter but I'm glad that it cleaned my skin! I definitely need to use up this sample to really know how I feel about this cleanser.

First up is the Jesse's Girl Cosmetics Eye Shadow Primer.

Claims: Your eyes, like an artist's canvas, require a primer for best results from your vibrant color palette. Jesse's Girl Eye Shadow Primer provides a silky, crease proof base for smooth application and long lasting color.

I love love love when I get mini samples in my Ipsy bag because I get to travel with them! I was so happy to receive a sample of the Jesse's Girl eye shadow primer because 1) I've been wanting to try it out because of Julie G 2) I recently went on a cross country trip so I had to pack light and 3) I love anything miniature and cute!

So this tiny primer's applicator is a doe foot applicator, which I appreciate. I love my squeeze tubes and doe foot applicators! The texture of this primer feels smooth and I feel like it has some silicone in it? But it applies on my eyelids really nicely and it has a bit of a stickiness to it but then it drys down to a smoothness perfect for eyeshadow application.

I was really impressed by this primer and it made my eye look last on all day. I would definitely be into buying this primer in the full size!

Next is the OFRA Cosmetics Lip Liner in the shade Wine.

Claims: OFRA'S Wine Lip Liner applies smoothly and easily on the lips with a beautiful matte finish. This liner will hold your lipstick in place and prevent it from creasing onto the outside edges of your lips.

I love me some lip liner and lately lip liners are what I've been loving just using all over the lips without any lipstick, lipgloss, or anything at all. I find that lipliners are just long lasting and easy so of course I was ecstatic to receive this in my bag.

The color shade Wine is a beautiful dusty mauve color and it pairs perfectly with the Hikari Lip Gloss in Merlot that I also got in this bag! But if I don't feel like wearing the Hikari gloss I can just go for this and I get a similar colored matte lips. This is a great lipliner and I love that I got to try it out from OFRA Cosmetics because I've been wanting to really buy some of their matte liquid lipsticks. This is probably just a segway into a possible addiction in OFRA Cosmetics. The formulation of these lip liners are smooth and pigmented. It was super easy to apply and it doesn't accentuate any of the dryness on my lips.

The third item in my August bag Skinn Cosmetics Luxe Waterproof Eyeliner in the shade Navy Seal.

Claims: This eyeliner is a pure luxury treatment liner that creates a smooth no-smudge line. It contains peptides, shea butter and jojoba to firm the appearance of eyelids and smooth dry lids. It's waterproof formula is perfect for summer and it won't come off until you want it to. Plus, it comes with a convenient built-in sharpener!

The last time that I got a blue liner was in another ipsy bag and it was actually a gel liner from J.Cat beauty, which I really liked, and that is why I was excited to get another blue liner for this month.

Here is what the Skinn eyeliner looks like up close. As you can see it looks like this really nice navy blue. The color shows up really well on my skin tone and because it's not a very bright blue, it's actually very wearable. I really enjoyed the pigmentation of this liner and the longevity. Although I did see at the end of the day a little bit of smudging, it wasn't something that I could have easily fixed. I would definitely be open to trying out this eyeliner in different shades, especially in a black.

The fourth product in the bag is the Hikari Cosmetics Lip Gloss in the color Merlot

Claims: Check out Hikari's collection of gorgeous, high-shine matte lip glosses. With these high-pigment lip glosses you can wear them alone or layer them over your favorite lipstick to create intense new colors. They will give you the perfect sultry lip with just the right amount of shine!

Oh my goodness was I so shocked by this product when I first tried it. When I read that it was a lip gloss I thought I was going to hate it just because I don't like lip glosses at all. Sometimes lip glosses make my lips just look way too milky and it doesn't flatter my skin tone at all. But this Hikari lip gloss is not your typical lip gloss at all.

As you can see from the swatch here this is just a crazy pigmented gloss. The color is in Merlot and it is this beautiful burgundy red. The gloss on top is so beautiful and not sticky at all (which I love). It sits well on my lips and doesn't accentuate any dryness or cracks. All in all I really really like this gloss and would highly recommend! (P.S. check out my instagram: daisydaisydaisies to see what this gloss looks like on my lips! Oh, and follow me too hehe I follow right back!)

And last but of course not least is the Batiste Dry Shampoo. The scent of the dry shampoo that I received is in Blush.

Claims: Batiste Dry Shampoo is the #1 dry shampoo in the UK. Why? Because it revitalizes your hair, leaving it feeling clean and smelling fresh, so your style lasts longer between washes. We all wake up sometimes, look in the mirror, and know that our hair needs a little pick me up. This dry shampoo offers an instant fix by removing excess oil and grease while adding body and texture to your locks.

Can you believe that with all the hype that this dry shampoo have that I've never tried it? I've  bought and tried out all different kinds except this one! So I was super happy to have received this in my bag this month. I always needs some dry shampoo and having this is a travel size is just perfect.

The scent that I received is in Blush which is a nice pleasant smell. The first time that I tried this I was instantly impressed with the nozzle/spray. It's so high-powered and it distributes the dry shampoo on my hair nicely. After that I could instantly see that it took all the oiliness  from my hair as well as gave it volume. I used only this dry shampoo for about two weeks and I'm seriously in love. Why didn't I try this out any sooner?! I even went out to buy a full size Batiste dry shampoo except for darker hair and I absolutely love it. Everyone. Get this dry shampoo!

And that is it for my two Ipsy bags! Overall, I liked what I got this month. The Ipsy subscription service is such a favorite of mine ad I have yet to be truly disappointed. Thank you for reading as always! Please follow me on all social media sites as well as on Bloglovin' and I'll do the same!
