April & May 2015 Ipsy Glam Bag: Beautifully Bohemian & Jetsetter

I know I know, I need to stop being behind on my ipsy glam bags but I can't help it! Things pile up and honestly I just forget to post. So this month is going to be another double whammy (hope you all don't mind). By the way, HOW ABSOLUTELY CUTE ARE THESE BAGS?! The May Ipsy bag is by far my favorite! I'm currently using it as an everyday makeup bag.

For the month of April, Ipsy's theme was called Beautifully Bohemian. As always, each Ipsy bag comes with five products suited to your beauty quiz. If you want to find out what I received for the months of April and May click on read more!

The first product from this boho theme bag is the Theorie Argan Oil Ultimate Reform Hair Serum

Claims: This luxurious hair serum penetrates deep into hair follicles to restore moisture and impart brilliance to lackluster hair. Apply to soften the cuticle, strengthen brittleness, and protect from heat styling and environmental stress. The Argan Oil Ultimate Reform Hair Serum is safe for normal, color and keratin treated hair and contains natural ingredients including Moroccan Argan Oil and Bitter Orange Flower Extract. The serum is free from sodium lauryl sulfate, laureth sulfate, mineral oil, paraffin oil, petroleum, and propylene glycol products.

As I've stated in probably a bunch of other blog posts, I personally don't like hair care products. I've only ever believed in one hair care product in my life but this one may be up there as well.

Since receiving this product, I have been using it every time I wash my hair. The directions on the bottle say to apply it either on damp/towel dried hair or dried hair at the end. I like to put the serum in when my hair has been towel dried and still feels damp at the ends.

I felt immediate results when I awoke the next morning and felt that the ends of my hair were super soft. The hair underneath the top part of my hair is usually super dried and fried (hehe this rhymed) but since using the serum, the dryness has dwindled down. My hair looks smoother, silkier, and shinier. I'm super impressed with this product and I would actually go out to buy this for myself.

The next item in this bag is the JulieG Nail Color in Damsel.

Claims: You won't be a damsel in distress with this JulieG Nail Color! Highly pigmented, no chip formula, with a brush applicator that glides on smooth for the perfect application.

I've never tried any JulieG nail polishes just because at the moment I'm really not into buying any. I have so many polishes that I don't even know what to do with all of them. So this was nice to receive in my bag because I've heard nothing but good things about JulieG's nail polishes.

The color I have is in Damsel and it is this super bright pink and very pretty for spring and summer. I find that these colors are also the best for your toes.

My first impression of this polish was that it was too thick for my liking. It almost looked gloopy. But, if you work with the polish, you can definitely get one good opaque coat. Since it was a bit thick it did take some time to dry completely. I did not wear top coat in order to test the longevity of the polish.

I found, after a complete week of wearing Damsel on my nails, was that it is really long wearing. It didn't chip for the longest time and I play a lot with my nails. It was by the second week did I see any serious chipping happening on my nails. I also painted the color on my toes and it lasts there even longer. Overall this is a good polish and I would not be opposed to buying more from Julie's brand.

Next up is the Pandora's Makeup Box Pink Carnation Blush.

Claims: Pandora's Makeup Box Pink Carnation Blush is suitable for all skin tones and made with long lasting, vibrant pigments with a silky texture for easy application. The formula is designed for professional use and contains the best quality pigment and ingredients to highlight the cheekbone for the ultimate glowing texture and color.

I have never heard of the Pandora's Makeup brand and I love blush a lot, so I was super excited to get this in my bag. The color that I received is in Pink Carnation which is a bright peachy pink.

When I first swatched the blush, I found that it was super pigmented, smooth, and easy to blend. The first time I tried out the blush, I was super impressed with its wear. It was long lasting on my cheeks, almost leaving a stain as if it was a cheek tint, and I did not need much of the product to achieve the look I wanted. I really liked this blush and will continue using it. It is the perfect color for spring and summer and it really looked vibrant and glowy on my skin.

This next product from the bag is one that I have been wanting to try out for the longest time, which is theBalm Cosmetics NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single in the color Fit. I've always wanted to try out theBalm Cosmetics Nude Tude palette but never got the chance and now they have recently released the Nude Dude palette. Someone's getting two palettes when she acquires more money (this girl right here).

Claims: Introducing theBalm's latest addition to the Nude series...Nude Dude! Get a quick look using any combination of these triple-milled shadows or dress up your look by adding water to transform your favorite shades into loyal liners. The shadows can be worn wet or dry and alone or layered for added intensity, so go ahead and cover (or uncover) your eyes.

I am such a sucker for good eyeshadows and theBalm Cosmetics did not disappoint. The color that I received was Fit. It is a beautiful shimmering copper color. The shadow was super pigmented upon the first time that I sued it and you can use it wet or dry. If you use this shadow wet you'll get a beautiful metallic/foil look. With the shadow dry, I find that you get a simple and clean look. This eyeshadow is definitely one that you can wear alone. It blends out beautifully and looks like you used a bunch of shadows to create your eyelook. My friend, who doesn't wear a lot of makeup but is subscribed to Ipsy, got the shade Flirty and was really impressed with theBalm. She even wants to buy the palette and she never does that!

This is a really simple shadow to use and I'm honestly about to buy the palette because I enjoy this color so much. The wear of the shadow lasts all day as well. I can just see my eyeshadow palette collection growing -_-.

And the last and final product from this bag is the Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip & Cheek Tint.

Claims: The Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip & Cheek Tint is an all natural, sheer, tinted balm that gives your lips and cheeks a slight flush and dewy finish. Apply desired amount to lips for nourishment, protection, and color. Dab a small amount on cheeks as a light cream blush. It's perfect for beauty on the go; it brightens the whole face with a sheer rose flush for the cheeks, gloss for the lips, and a sweet orange scent!

It's so sad for me to say this but I absolutely hated this product. The packaging of this is super cute and the idea behind this was interesting. I first tried this on my lips and felt right away that it wasn't moisturizing at all. I tried to layer it on my lips and it just felt drying and like I was over using product on my lips. It felt uncomfortable. On top of that, the scent to me doesn't smell like a sweet orange like it claimed. Instead, it just smelled sour and I couldn't stand it on my lips. I could taste the smell as well and it was just weird.

While trying to apply this on my cheeks, it wasn't pigmented at all. It applied on patchy and layering it on didn't work at all. I really did not like this product at all and it was an honest miss for me.

And that were all the items for the April 2015 Ipsy Glam Bag. Let me know if you received these products in your bag or have tried out any of them before. Now let's move on to the May Ipsy Glam Bag.

The theme that Ipsy chose for this month was Jetsetter and all about traveling friendly beauty items.

The first item from this bag is the Alterna Haircare Caviar CC Cream. The name itself threw me off but let's see the claims.

Claims: This multi-tasking miracle product provides 10 benefits in 1, simplifying your styling routine. Infused Caviar Extract & Vitamin C to smooth, add shine and help protect from free radical damage. Leaves your hair with moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, UV protection, manageability, strength, anti-breakage, heat protection, and a light hold. Can be used alone or as a foundation for the layering of other styling products.

Who has ever heard of a CC cream for your hair?! I didn't even know that it existed! So this product was definitely one of the first things that I tried out since the claims of it seemed amazing. So the product comes out and it looks like lotion, feels like lotion, and it smells like  a very fresh scent which I like.

I was kind of confused on to apply this on my hair just because the consistency threw me off. I don't normally put lotion like substances on my hair lol so I honestly just stared at it for a second trying to figure out what to do. After asking advice from my friend and my sister, who said to just put it on, I just worked it in my hair like a mousse. I also focused this on the ends and back of my hair where its the driest.

My hair felt a bit sticky after application but after I let the cream dry in, my hair felt okay. I had left it in at that point for more than hour and I really didn't see any results. My hair felt like it was tampered with and it felt heavy at the top. I really didn't like this and I would rather use the Theorie oil I received in last months bag over this CC Cream. I will continue to use it but if I still feel the same after a couple of uses, I'll just probably throw it out.

Next is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Lip Pencil + BONUS Revolution High-Color Lipgloss.

Claims: Get primed and ready for action. Urban Decay's long lasting, waterproof liner glides on smoothly to prime AND define - for long lasting lip color and clean lines. Smooch. Pout. Smack. Nibble. Lick. 24/7 stays put through everything (yes, EVERYTHING) you do. When you use this liner to fill in your lips completely, it primes them for lipstick or gloss, grabbing on to color to help it last. Next, finish the bad girl beautiful look with a sample of Urban Decay's brand new Revolution High-Color Lipgloss - insanely intense color with high shine. The high coverage, ultra pigmented formula lays down all the color you crave in one coat. This lippie is also laced with Hilurlip, which defines and hydrates lips while making them look plumper and fuller.

I've heard about this Urban Decay lip primer maybe once or twice since I got into makeup and beauty. So when I got got this in my bag, I was super excited to try it out. Urban Decay was also kind enough to give two samples of their new Revolution high-Color Lipgloss, one in and the other in.

The first time I used this primer lip pencil, I was super impressed with how nicely it went on my lips and how moisturizing it felt. This primer really helped to apply the lipliner and lipstick I was wearing on smoother. It helped with any feathering I could of had on my lips, it really helped to make my lip products stay on longer, and when the lipstick and lipliner began to fade away, it faded away nicely rather than too patchy.

I'm definitely going to be using this lip primer for every lip look I do. It really does work! As for the sample glosses, I received the colors Failbait and Bittersweet. Failbait is a light neutral pink while Bittersweet is super bright purple. It was nice that Urban Decay added these two samples for Ipsy because if I would have never bought this for myself since I'm really not that into lipgloss.

I like the consistency of Urban Decay's new lip glosses and as always, they have an array of colors, from your everyday shades to super bold. The gloss is not sticky at all and it applied on creamy and evenly for a sample size. I would definitely want to look into buying a full size version of this gloss because this is definitely one of the better high end glosses I've tried in a long time.

The third item from this bag is the BellaPierre Cosmetics Waterproof Mineral Gel Eyeliner Pencil in Ebony.

Claims: This super creamy mineral gel eyeliner formula provides effortlessly smooth application and intense pigment for amazing coverage and all day wear. Plus it's waterproof so you'll definitely be smudge free!

I've never heard of the brand BellaPierre and I don't normally go for eye liner pencils but Ipsy tends to give those out more often than other types of eye liners. But I've been into lining half of my lower lash line so I was essentially happy to receive this liner.

The color that Ipsy members received is in the shade Ebony. It is a matte gel eyeliner and is super pigmented when swatched. I would definitely warm this eyeliner up on my hand before using it on the lids just so that it goes on even more creamy. With the longevity of this product, I found that it lasted longer on my eyelids then on my lower lash line. The liner on my top lid lasted all day with only a bit of fading in the inner corner of my eyes. While on the lower lash line, it went on smoothly but had smudged at the end of the day. The opacity in the waterline was still prominent but had really transferred badly underneath my eyes. I definitely like this eyeliner for my top lids and I'll probably use it to nightlight as well.

Now we have the Peter Lamas Detoxifying Citrus C Facial Cleanser.

Claims: This Detoxifying Citrus C Facial Cleanser invigorates skin with a potent fusion of natural ingredients. A purifying blend of Chamomile, Coconut and Alba Bark combine to create a rich lather that locks in moisture while Wheat Protein smoothes and strengthens skin. Vitamin C and Beta Carotene work to detoxify, protect and energize, giving you softer younger looking skin. 100% Vegan, Paraben free, and Sulfate free.

The first time that I tried out this cleanser I liked how well it foamed up especially since it came out of the tube in a gel consistency. The smell is pleasant and not an overpowering orange scent which I like. And it washed off easily.

I used this cleanser in the morning and I felt like it just was not as refreshing or as "clean feeling" as what I feel a cleanser should be. It didn't amaze me nor did I hate it. My face did feel moisturized afterwards but other than that I didn't feel anything special happening to my skin. I will continue to use this until it is done and maybe I'll let you know if I see any changes in my skin from using this.

And finally, the last item in this bag is the Pixi by Petra Beauty Bronzer.

Claims: This deluxe bronzing powder gives your complexion the warmth and luminosity of naturally sun kissed skin. Hydrating, silky smooth & long wearing, it also contains Vitamin E to protect skin against free radicals.

This was THE product I was most excited to try out just because I've been on such a bronzer kick as of late. Since I'm really into bronzers right now I wanted to ask you guys if you can recommend me a good contour and highlight palette since so many makeup brands have been coming out with them! Can you believe I haven't even purchased one?! I've never been a huge contouring and highlighting fan but the trend is really changing my mind about me. Leave me some suggestions below! I've been looking into getting the Kat Von D Shade & Light contour palette? What do you guys think?

Well moving on lol let's talk about this bronzer I received. The first thing that caught my attention is the color. On the Ipsy website it looked a lot warmer than it actually is. On me, it looks grayer in tone and I was hesitant to use it because I have a tan skin tone and cool tone bronzers don't normally work for me. But of course I had to try it and found that it didn't look bad on my skin. I would definitely be using it for contouring instead of bronzer. I ended up layering a warm tone bronzer on top so that it suited me. The finish of this is actually a sheen. It doesn't have glitter or shimmer which is why I think it is totally fine for contouring. I actually really like the finish. Overall, I think that lighter skin toned beauties would appreciate this bronzer a lot.

And that is it for the two month's worth of Ipsy glam bags! Sorry for the long post once again and I'll try to not do this next month. If you received any two of these Ipsy bags, tell me what you got and how you felt about your products! I always love to know. Thanks for reading the blog and supporting as always :D See you all in the next post.
